A hotly contested match up north with Stockley and Oshilaja picking up red cards for each respective side on the 17th minute or thereabouts. Charlton adjusted quickly and applied pressure time and time again through dominating possession and picking their moments. Jimmy-Floyd and Jacko even got into it on the sidelines! Referee Kettle had his work cut out for him, but he was far from blameless as things threatened to go off the boil!

A fired up Burton returned for the second half with renewed belief. Charlton stayed organised, but failed to capitalise when in possession. Still, each ran himself ragged and doggedly defended. From sixty minutes we played without a full striker as Davison went off, replaced by Corey Blackett-Taylor. We had a couple of second half chances that could have put a bit of distance between the two sides, but it wasn’t to be. Burton posed more danger, but never really lived up to the bite from their bark.

Lee, Pearce, Purrington, Famewo, and Clare (out of position on the right side of centreback and later as wingback) all played well and put a real shift in.

The Addicks held on for a 0-1 win. Another Jacko clean-sheet win!

  • Not our prettiest performance under JJ, but one I felt we game managed almost perfectly after that crazy first half.

Plymouth will be a whole different prospect, especially with the players we are missing, but I wouldn’t count out our boys at home at all.

Purrington doing the post game from a feed that looks like it's of the International Space Station.
  • We've got out Charlton back!

    In JJ we trust.
  • Lovely stuff. A proper away win under tough circumstances. Professional, organized and committed. All the ingredients that were missing until Jacko took over.

Tough tests to come now with the injuries and suspensions to our forwards but we got the points on the board while we could.

    Just give him the job.

Goals scored and conceded in those respective spells of matches would be interesting too (not that I can be arsed to look them up right now).

Everyone battled and battled. We lacked some quality with both Lee and Gilbey losing opportunities by not controlling the ball. The defence was superb, which considering there were only 3 defenders on the pitch was really great.
We are playing like a team fighting for promotion now, not looking like we will be relegated as we did a month ago.
  • Professional display from us this afternoon

Got the job done in very difficult conditions thanks to an over zealous referee in the first half.

Neither Stockley or Oshilaja can complain though, I'm sure all players got told about Kettle's reputation beforehand.

Second half was a bit flat but we showed organisation and discipline in that second period.

Burton today, well all fart, no substance.

Was never worried about them scoring.

great result - give jacko the job this week TS - famewo will be a big big miss next week which is shame - hopefully Leko will be back and we can out score them
  • Tense, but a perfect afternoon of sport for me.

Players digging deep to get the result, and deserving the accolades they will receive.

We won Any away win is a good win. Squad looking threadbare before KO but players previously written off by some (was Dobson but today Clare) stepped up. Will need the same v Plymouth. JJ to be announced as perm manager before KO next Saturday

if only NA got binned off after the Bolton game, could have been an extra win or two better off by now
