Post-match Thread: Burton Albion vs Charlton Athletic | Saturday 13th November 2021

edited November 2021 in General Charlton
A hotly contested match up north with Stockley and Oshilaja picking up red cards for each respective side on the 17th minute or thereabouts. Charlton adjusted quickly and applied pressure time and time again through dominating possession and picking their moments. Jimmy-Floyd and Jacko even got into it on the sidelines! Referee Kettle had his work cut out for him, but he was far from blameless as things threatened to go off the boil!

A fired up Burton returned for the second half with renewed belief. Charlton stayed organised, but failed to capitalise when in possession. Still, each ran himself ragged and doggedly defended. From sixty minutes we played without a full striker as Davison went off, replaced by Corey Blackett-Taylor. We had a couple of second half chances that could have put a bit of distance between the two sides, but it wasn’t to be. Burton posed more danger, but never really lived up to the bite from their bark.

Lee, Pearce, Purrington, Famewo, and Clare (out of position on the right side of centreback and later as wingback) all played well and put a real shift in.

The Addicks held on for a 0-1 win. Another Jacko clean-sheet win!

Goals scored and conceded in those respective spells of matches would be interesting too (not that I can be arsed to look them up right now).
