Chris Powell and England

Apologies if this or something similar has already been posted but I notice there are a few nice articles out there regarding CP's current involvement in the England camp during the Euros.

  •  Former Southend United player and manager Chris Powell, who's now part of the England coaching set-up, has been praising the boss Gareth Southgate ahead of tonight's Euro 2020 semi-final against Denmark at Wembley Stadium https://t.co/ZhiHCNkAls https://t.co/XfxBnFy8Q3

I know it makes more of a headline to highlight his Southend days (and even then when he was playing for them, they were a Championship level side), but "Former England player, Charlton player and manager and current Tottenham Academy head coach Chris Powell" would be a more appropriate description!
  • There's at least 4 ex Charlton in the team photos in that piece, as well as Southgate, Ian Wright and I think I spotted Steve Claridge as well.
  • I think Chris is the best loved man ever, to play for Charlton.
Jacko runs him very close for me

  • Is he the England squad's Keith Peacock?
  • He’s a true uncomplicated gent......that says all you need to know.
  • He must be having the best summer, must be brilliant to be around the England camp, at all the games etc.
  • I wonder if he would be in with a shout for the U21 job ?

I had the pleasure, along with others, of his company  at a supporters meet when he was our manager. He's an absolute legend in my eyes. So happy he's on this incredible journey with England right now.
But what was the REAL highlight of your evening, ozaddick ?

Absolutely love the man. A real gentleman who is an absolute credit to the game of football. So glad he is part of this England set up.

In fact I would go further. One of the biggest disappointments, if not the biggest, of a 50 year plus charlton supporting life is the way the mad Belgian pulled the rug out from under him.

I'd love him to come back in some capacity one day.
Well said that man. If we win the tournament the whole squad and coaches should be knighted. Although Chrissy is already Sir Chris in many of our minds. You can see he is an integral part of it all as well.
  • What a legend!!
