It cost me 2 beers and 2 BBQ burger meals for Jayden and his brother but if that was what convinced him to sign then I suppose it was worth it! He is welcome back at my golf club at any time.Great stuff !
Del Roofer clearly did an excellent job in selling the dream to Jayden.....

Pleased.

Think it a for fairly obvious that Jayden enjoyed his time on loan with us last season and to get him on a permanent is good news for us. A player that wants to be with us is a happy player and that counts for so much. High hopes he can carry on the good work he’s already laid the foundations for.9

....what an interview that was! Great to see another articulate chap join the club. I never thought we was going to see that at some point.

Very glad to have secured Jayden on a 3 year deal. It's just the first step on quite a long rebuilding path but its a very good first step.4

Pleased that you have correctly called it the Soviet Union rather than Russia.AddicksAddict said:Pleased.

If Roland had still been around, Stockley would of started pre-season at Pompey and a young North Macedonian striker would be standing at the gates of Sparrows Lane post Euros wondering where the fuck he was!
Thank Zeus for TS. This is another stepping stone back to a semblence of a well run football club.3 -
World would be a different place had Zinoviev and Kamenov been victorious. Almost certainly would have meant no trial of 16 and no great purge making the Soviet Union more likely to have been able to resist the fascist advances into its heartlands, saving lives and possibly shortening the length of the war by several years.AddicksAddict said:Pleased.

We might also have seen post war independence for all the countries that did not ally with the Germans meaning that the British who entered the war to free Poland and Czechoslovakia from a dictatorship, did not feel the guilt of leaving them under another dictatorship thus reducing the post war shame that many felt and kick starting the economic and societal reforms that were needed.

I agree the war may have been shorter but would Lyle Taylor have seen out his contract with us?Cordoban Addick said:

We have seen TS show his intent in buying this football club and he is striving for the best but being reasonably practicable in building a squad.mendonca said:
Does it though? How does making a signing show intent for further signings if a strict budget has been mentioned.addick19 said:Great signing which shows TS intent; more to come.
Stockley is a high calibre signing for this division and we need to add a few more in other areas.
A strict budget reads out to me that we ain't going offer a million for a player when we don't need to or offer double wages in League one but we have a valuation for each target as well as a overall budget which we will try to keep the transfers in line with. It be a reasonable budget for this league but not excessive.5 -
And there was me thinking he'd signed because when he was a young lad growing up in Dorset he always dreamt of playing in SE7.Callumcafc said:Portsmouth fans not beat pleased.1 -
Well of course, everybody knows Russia was just one of the Soviet Socialist Republics, don’t they? A friend has what she called a Russian army hat until I pointed out the Cyrillic “YCCP” in the inside which probably means it’s Ukrainian.Cordoban Addick said:

It is a positive indicator. Chuks signing a new contract will be another one!3

great news .. he's a real presence up front0

It can be a strict budget but a large budget at the same time. It just means they need to stick to that budget. I’d be concerned if Gallen had said we were working within a small budget or similar. Too much being read into what Gallen said.mendonca said:

Peterborough went up with 3 players that hit double figure league goals last season, we only had 1 player who hit double figure league goals out of the top 20 scorers (Chuks).
Hull also had 3 players that hit double figure league goals.
Blackpool had 1 player who hit double figure league goals.
Of what we’ve seen of him, I would expect Stockley to hit double figure league goals for us next season, if he can keep himself fit and injury free.
2 more double figures goalscorers please, whether it’s Chuks or someone else.
More meaningless stats, Sunderland lost the fewest amount of games (9) and still didn’t get promoted.
We we’re 15 points off of top spot, and our goal difference was 28 goals worse than Hull who were top, I still think we need a big overhaul, if we want to go where we want to go, can Gilbey and Ronnie suddenly turn into double figure goal scorers, if they can then great, but if they don’t, and we don’t bring in players that can this window, it will cost us promotion.0 -

We already have Washington3

We could do with a few midfielders who are capable of scoring 5-10 or so. Gilbey is one, DJ may be another. JFC would be if fit.2
-
We now have Stockley and Washington ,good goal scorers, get Chucks, thats 3,Could Ronnie come good with a decent pre season, that would be 4 strikers. What we need now is JJ type who will chip in a few from midfield, possibley Gilbey could come good.0
-
I hold hope for Ronnie, but I want us to sign a new striker signed in with that bunch, at minimum as a precaution.thickandthin63 said:We now have Stockley and Washington ,good goal scorers, get Chucks, thats 3,Could Ronnie come good with a decent pre season, that would be 4 strikers. What we need now is JJ type who will chip in a few from midfield, possibley Gilbey could come good.0 -
No, Lyle Taylor is a running lapdog of capatilism and he has betrayed his class and his motherland. He also needed to go to big school.captainbob said:

I don't think it's beyond the realms of fantasy to say that if we played last season again with the squad we finished with we would probably have scored 10-15 more goals and conceded 10-15 less.Mendonca In Asdas said:Peterborough went up with 3 players that hit double figure league goals last season, we only had 1 player who hit double figure league goals out of the top 20 scorers (Chuks).

We won't have either Pratley or Oshilaja playing at center back. We won't have the one tactic of how long until we can bring Chuks on. We won't have the off the field issues, what ever they were. We won't have Marcus Maddison. We won't start the season a month after everyone else. Those things alone would probably make up 15 plus points.
Unless we either sign no one else, or players of the same effectiveness of the 5 released, Smyth, Bogle and Levitt. 20 more goals scored, 20 less goals conceded and 20 more points shouldn't be a problem.5 -
We don’t really want Sandgaard and Adkins coming out saying, “great first signing, we now have £5m left for remaining transfers”. Wouldn’t be too concerned about the mention of strict budget.mendonca said:

Strict budget doesn't especially bother me , I'm sure the money is there for the right players .0
-
It will be interesting to see if this has a knock-on effect on other deals, especially the negotiations with Chuks. Having now signed another striker, particularly one of the target man mold, it's given us something of an ace in those negotiations as we are now less dependant on his returning than we were.
Obviously it would be very beneficial to have both to choose from/rotate but it strengthens our hand to know he can leave and not leave us completely short up front.0 -
What's with this hang up on the word "budget"..everyone has a budget, including Thomas, we have no idea what sort of budget we are talking about, how much, how little, whatever it is it will be relevant to our income and outgoings, so relax, i am confident that we are the right road, and Steve et al have everything spot on, I would be more concerned if we let all and sundry think we were a soft touch.1
