Anyone seen any prospective players down at Asda?1

But I think cousins is shit, I could explain why and use a few big words if I wanted but I didn’t on this occasion. Perhaps try not getting so offended by a difference of opinion on something so irrelevant, it’s not like I’ve said this to cousins directly, that I don’t like, but this is the perfect place to express your opinions.Garrymanilow said:
Not sure where you're getting that from as that's not what I said. Sure people can be negative about footballers, the way some talk about them is ridiculous though. Saying that people who make a good living out of football are 'shit' footballers is just needlessly unpleasant and makes that person look a bit thick. Of course that player isn't shit, if he was no-one would pay him thousands of pounds a week. Just makes me wonder if those people are also going round screaming at the people who work at Sainsbury's if they're too slow at the till or leave abusive reviews on Twitter for films they didn't enjoy watching. It's weird that some fans don't seem to have any ability to talk about footballers in a balanced way. It makes Twitter a cesspit.BR7_addick said:
Do what?Garrymanilow said:I hate the way football fans talk about footballers sometimes. Imagine being some bloke who would be given the run around by the under 14s sitting at their laptop and confidently saying a professional footballer playing in the first or second division is 'dogshit' or 'dreadful' with 'no footballing brain'. What a weird life. I wonder if they heckle window cleaners and dentists as well
So unless we are better than a footballer we can never describe one negatively?

.....following the theme, a not quite ex player Yanick Bolasie (I seem to remember he was not granted an overseas permit to join us) is now without a contract, slow 32yr old winger anyone ?0

You'd be incorrect.........he just hides them well sometimes.wmcf123 said:

He was born in France so wouldn't have needed a work permit. He was on £4 million a year at Everton, I doubt he is in rush to join our "project".0 -
...maybe a bad assumption I kinda assumed he wouldn't be tearing up the wings at 32Cafc43v3r said:

Nigel Adkins was in town today ....0

Nah, he'd be in the frame for first choiceCafc43v3r said:
Are you suggesting Scott Carson will swap a place in the City squad for sitting on our bench?Billy_Mix said:
We will definitely need 3rd division standard cover for injury/suspension - Amos being available for all 46 league starts was a fluke, a goaly often has the most starts in a squad but 100% can't be taken for granted. We'll not be planning on "carrying" anybody but we need adequate cover for all positions, goaly's not one where we'll get away with a non-specialist.Callumcafc said:He’s not as young as I thought, being 28 already but on the other hand, goalkeepers do peak later and he could be entering the best years of his career.
With Amos, he’s solid enough at this level but I don’t think there’s a realistic shot that he is a first choice goalkeeper for anyone in the Championship. He’s had the chance at a handful of clubs and never been able to keep the shirt.
CMG (yes, that’s his new name) has never been tested at that level. So... he may be good, he may flop. But one thing is for sure, we know the “floor” (top end L1) of both talents is about the same. And we know Amos’ “ceiling” (struggling Champ) isn’t much higher than that floor whereas we’d have to wait and see just how good CMG can be.
It’s definitely an either or conversation. Can’t see any world in which we carry both players.
Scott Carson's gonna be available...0 -

Or are you now saying we should sign players who improve the team, regardless of whether they played for us before?
I don’t recall Piggott doing that much for us in his first spell yet you’d have him back even though, by your logic, he’d not be as good second time around? Maybe me but that makes no sense if we want to get out of League One.

He's not shit though, he's a professional footballer who is paid to play football. I'm shit at football, but that's why I never got past Sunday League and no-one will ever pay me to attempt it at any level. Calling a player who has played over 200 games in the Championship shit is just silly. That's sort of the point I'm making, it's not that the words are scary and upsetting, it's that they're ridiculous. It's not big words you need to use, it's a bit of awareness of scale.BR7_addick said:

Danny Green started his youth football with us, was definitely better than that 9 years later
Danny Haynes similar but less so
Jason Euell was a shadow of his former self when he returned in 2011 but was an able squad player for 3rd division football in that title winning season and his time with us since then has been worthwhile, hasn't it?0 -
I wasn't commentating on people coming back in managerial/coaching roles. Danny Green is the same as Piggott, didn't get a chance first time round.Billy_Mix said:

Well when I say he’s shit who do think I’m comparing him to?? Players that might win us this league or the man in the street?? Absolutely staggering that needs explaining.Garrymanilow said:

He’e either been with us before or he hasn’t LA! It doesn’t matter how many he times he played in the first team, the fact is bringing him back would be his second spell at the club.0 -

Or as good as team set up, which provided the service for him to score all those goals?RonnieMoore said:
One good season wonder .. journeyman another AjoseCafc_lifer said:Surely we want to poach the best L2 players. Paul Mullin scored 32 in 46 for Cambridge last season. Scored 11 more than the second highest scorer in the league.
If the team is poor or the set up is not right, or meagre service/lone forward - it's a struggle for any striker to score goals, no matter how decent they are for the level.
And if they are capable of scoring plenty of goals that they've created for themself, they won't be playing for long in this Division!

Jeeeez. No rumours just grown men bickering. Definitely close season.9
-
Because I have even started to confuse myself:
Joe Pigott - ex Charlton striker, aged 27, just been released by AFC Wimbledon at the end of his contract.
Joe Piggott - 21 year old Altrincham striker, who as far as I know has never even stepped foot in SE7.3 -
Olly Lee (Robert's son) has signed on permanently at Gillingham .0
