Joking apart, can you imagine what it must have been like to be an all rounder coming through the system at Kent. Stevens hits 30 and you're thinking that he'll only be with us for a few more seasons - and 15 years later he's still playing as well as ever!walshiesleftfoot said:Five year contract for the young Darren Stevens5 -
There have been a few potential Stevo replacements down the years who've come and gone, when you think of the likes of Adam Ball, Callum Haggett, Will Gidman and Ben Harmison!Addick Addict said:

What happened to Adam Ball? Wasn’t he going to be to next big player to come out of Kent
Edit, playing for Suffolk CCC now0 -
Stevens showing his worth as a bowler!!0
-
A rather one sided game at Grace Road, where Leicestershire in their first innings have been outscored by James Vince!
Hampshire 612-5. Vince 231, Dawson 152no, Alsop 119
Leicestershire 2020 -
It's all been written .. Darren Stevens !!!!!0

Off for rain ( not my fault!)
Due to restart at 2.15.2 -
He's combining coaching with his own Mortgage advisory businessStewart said:What happened to Adam Ball? Wasn’t he going to be to next big player to come out of Kent

In reply to our 455, Northants are 301-5. Unusual at this time of year for over 750 runs to be scored for the loss of 15 wickets but it would suggest that there isn't a lot in the track.1

Not a good sign when you use seven bowlers, with spinners Leaning and Denly both having decent spellsAddick Addict said:In reply to our 455, Northants are 301-5. As an aside ladies and gents. If you access YouTube, search for Kent Cricket and about five frames across there is a "Conversation with Alan Knott". Great memories and great stories backed up with a fair bit of footage. I really enjoyed it . Quite recent, only nine months old.3

All the group stage 50 over matches will be played at Beckenham, with everything else it seems at Canterbury this season1 -

Darren Stevens is one of Wisden’s five cricketeers of the year. Amazing effort at his age. Oldest player to be recognised since 1930s.Zak Crawley is one of the 5 too. Well done both.Incidentally, first time Kent have had two players in the 5 since 1910.16

Now let's win something this year !1 -
the rule that a player cannot be considered again is stupid. Crawley could score 800 runs in an ashes series but not be considered1

Kent's 4 day game against Yorkshire has just started.
Yorkshire have included the likes of Root, Bess and Willey in their side whilst Kent have kept the same X1 that drew with Northants so have resisted the temptation of bringing back a fit again Kuhn or to play a front line spinner.
Yorkshire won the toss and have elected to bat.

Very loose start from Podmore and Stevens. Yorkshire 27-0 off 3!0

And then, as if by magic, Stevens snares Kohler-Cadmore with another wayward ball - caught by Robinson down the leg side. 28-10
-
Podmore really is struggling to control the new ball - 3-0-27-0
40-1 off 60 -
Half volley after half volley, we really need to get Podmore off - 4-0-37-0
50-1 off 70 -
The slips look snazzy in their snoods, and bodywarmer trousers... Umpire wearing gloves...
Too cold for cricket!2 -
Such are the consequences of having to fit the County Championship around The Hundred and the other white ball comps - 50 years ago, in 1971, the first CC game of the season started on 1st May not the 8th April. Coincidentally, that match was against Yorkshire too.Pedro45 said:The slips look snazzy in their snoods, and bodywarmer trousers... Umpire wearing gloves...
Too cold for cricket!
Our team that contained no less than five players who would play Test cricket for England, two West Indian internationals, a South African born Charlton footballer and one of the best fielders ever to represent us in the "shape" of Alan Ealham:
Luckhurst
Denness
Cowdrey
Ealham
Knott
Leary
Shepherd
Julien
Underwood
Graham
Dye
Deadly Derek Underwood's figures in the first innings were 21-10-28-7

101-1 off 230
-
Podmore returns for a second spell and snaffles Loten in exactly the same way as Stevens got his - caught Robinson down the leg side
128-2 off 30 at Lunch. Joe Root is now in.0 -
Milnes has Root caught by Robinson!!!0
-
143-3
Lyth 90*0 -
