    From 38-3 to 309-7 at close thanks to Cox (62), Leaning (79), Robinson (84) and Stevens (34*).

    A good day for us overall and 350 would be a decent enough score. Hopefully the weather won't play too major a part - so if we could just request that, for now anyway, Fanny keeps her summer dancing shoes in storage!

    The Northants attack looked rather mediocre. A number of our batsmen got themselves out (especially a couple who were well in at the time) and their bowlers only really threatened on occasions. As you say, you'd like to think that we have better exponents of the conditions.

    I see that star studded Surrey team were 220 all out against those titans of County cricket Gloucestershire. To be fair, the track must be a bit of a minefield given that Gloucs have just lost their first wicket with the score on 139!
