    Favourites have been underwhelming today.
Not sure about that. Chacon maybe a little but was beaten by two good horses. Tiger Roll is a two time Grand National winning horse. If anybody knew that sort of Tiger was going to turn up then it would have been around 2/1.

    1.20 - 1pt win Bear Ghylls @ 9/1
    1.55 - No bet
    2.30 - 1pt EW Koshari @ 9/1; 0.5pts EW Tea Clipper @ 50/1
    3.05 - 1pt EW Nube Negra @ 11/1
    3.40 - No bet
    4.15 - 0.5pts EW Duc Des Genievres @ 25/1; 0.5pts EW Not That Fuisse @ 16/1
    4.50 - No bet

Staked: 8pts (not loads less than yesterday and it's all each way plays, so hopefully one wins and we're in business)
    Staked: 8pts
    Returned: 10.8pts

Can't really complain with three places and profit but I rather feel the door was shut on NN who could've got up to win that! A good day again, hoping for an even better couple of days to round out the Festival.

Great run by Alpha Des Obeaux.
Enjoying decent ground for the first time in a while and will likely relish similar going back over the spruce at Aintree.
Plenty worse each value than ADO's 80/1 - still available from Bob...... be rude not to   ;)

Bob's run for cover - cut to 50s

In 2001, the Festival was cancelled due to Foot and Mouth disease restrictions. That year aside, every Festival since 2000 has realised a horse fatality. What an appalling record.

Dene Stansall, Animal Aid’s Horseracing Consultant commented:

The Cheltenham Festival continues its reputation as a lethal and warped spectacle where horses’ lives come a poor second to money-making and gambling. For all the hype about race horse welfare, we see these poor horses being made to compete in this atrociously gruelling race over a long distance with too many obstacles. The sight of poor Kings Temptation falling to the ground will sicken viewers. Every year horses are killed at this so-called Festival. But it continues because making money is clearly more important than the lives of individual animals.

Sick of reading about your anti horse racing views, on a horse racing thread when your photo is of a sheep. Baaaaad choice of photo in my opinion

    So many points:

    - You think Tiger Roll was hating every minute of that then?
    - Did you happen to see the injury? It was on the flat, and while nasty, looked like a stumble that could have happened anywhere.
    - I feel so sorry for Ben Case and all the grooms who would have looked after him - making their livelihood.
    - Do you think horses would vote for breed extinction? The usual question is, of course, would you be happy seeing thoroughbreds wink out of existence which is a distinct possibility should all racing be stopped? (Similar animals that are today effectively obsolete include Shire horses)

Could go on and on, but we have trod this ground far too many times.

Whatever anyone's comfortable with. So a point is a fiver, or a tenner, or a hundred quid, or 50p if they like!

I take a longer-term view of punting - I'm not looking to double or quadruple my money - so if I'm winning on the day, great, I'm loving a 25% return on top of my investment or whatever.

👍, I follow a chap on Twitter Jibber Jabber he had 3 winners today, a 2nd, two thirds, and 6th and 7th in Coral Cup all returned, he gave Monkfish but I couldn’t back at that price, I have followed fiddlerontheroof off a cliff this season so backed him each way, so had a decent day , in your terms 8pts up
  • Got to cash out surely??

A punter stands to collect more than £500,000 from a £5 bet if hot favourite Envoi Allen wins at the Cheltenham Festival on Thursday.

Paul Dean has seen four legs of his five-horse accumulator triumph.

Now he has been offered the chance to cash out for £275,000 regardless of the final result.

"He told me he won't be able to sleep tonight. I'd say that's a massive understatement," said Betfair spokesman Barry Orr on Wednesday.

Dean's winning run began with two winners at Royal Ascot nine months ago, and two more have followed at Cheltenham this week as he closes on a potential payday of £511,225.

''He could take the cash out offer and sit back safe in the knowledge that regardless of what happens in the race he is £275,000 better off," said Orr.

"Alternatively, he can reject the offer and hope Envoi Allen beats his seven opponents and also safely negotiates the 16 fences to land his incredible bet.

''Envoi Allen is 4-9 favourite so he may well stick and let the bet run.''

The guy is on Twitter. Says Betfair have honoured to pay the full amount if he wins (usually capped at £250k).

I think he's gonna let it run.

Fck that. I'd be cashing out all day long.
