Gillingham: A Season in the Life

Ahead of Saturday's game I thought I'd share this gem on YouTube:
https://youtu.be/53Cg68BFLzw
ITV followed Gillingham for the 97/98 season in 5 25min episodes.
It's a good mix of 90s nostalgia (Dario G, dodgy tracksuits and baseball caps, players driving crap cars and living in 3 bedroom semi detached houses), funny ways in which football was still very innocent/amateur compared to today, and cameos from younger Tony Pulis, Neil Warnock etc.
Starts with Paul Scally on his honeymoon (in presumably a free Sandals hat) with a much younger Mrs Scally (can't imagine what she saw in the millionaire Paul Scally).
I'd also be interested to see if anyone knows if Andy Mills, Ade Akinbiyi's (pretty wet) agent, is one who turned up at The Valley around Dowie's time?

I get he was probably at the start of his career but he was so useless in the negotiations with Scally, can't understand why anyone would have bothered paying him to represent them!

I watched this to see what my cousin sees in supporting them.
It‘s certainly a throw back to a different time and quite enjoyable to watch.
My cousin tells me that Paul Scally‘s wife went on to have drug problems and had also been shagging half of the first XI. Anybody know if that‘s true?0 -

Seen this documentary before and enjoyed it.
If you like this sort of thing then you’ll also enjoy There’s Only One Barry Fry. Absolutely hilarious at times. It follows him around at the time when he was owner and manager of Peterborough.
The best scene is the transfer dealing he is making with some random player and his agent (36 mins in)

Pretty sad that it ended up with her staying in a grotty hostel in Ramsgate taking heroin.0 -
This is an odd one, was obviously a big fall out between them both:

Tony Pulis and Paul Scally oversaw a great run in Gillinghams history, they were fucked by itv digital collapsing like loads of other clubs with small grounds. They signed Tommy Johnson and Rob Wallace which were questionable signings at best
Lots of stories about Pulis and Scallys wife and a lot of them made up about Scallys wife full stop0 - Sponsored links:

I'll always remember Barry Fry when he was at Barnet, I was on the way back from Welling with my Dad, listening to Sports Report and Barry Fry was singing "we are top of the league!" at the top of his voice.1 -
