The recent years of Test cricket have put on some incredible shows but that's right up there with anything I've seen
  • There was a spell there of 22 runs off 8 and it may have got to 30ish off 12 it was mental
  • First time Australia have lost at the Gabba since 1988

Highest ever successful run chase on that ground too.

would a draw have been better for England in the Test Championship?

Well done India. 8 players out and stuffed them at their fortress 'Gabba'.

Never heard a stadium referenced so often by players and commentators.
  • Great game, great series, and great to see to Aussies lose.

That series feels like India's 2005 Ashes equivalent

It's better if we're honest - away, missing players etc.

Although obviously not as strong an opponent as the 2005 team.

“Can’t wait to get you to the Gabba” famous last words from Paine I think. I don't think we'll see him at the ashes next winter.

Said this myself, I was hoping he would still be wasting a slot in their side (Cant bat, cant keep, cant captain) and then we would end his career in the ashes. Shame he has done this now. I guess Wade will keep and they will bring in an extra batsman.

Love an Indian win over Australia. Takes me back to the VVS Laxman series in 2000. You really have to be in the country to understand how mental place goes when they beat the Aussies.
  • The good news, a patched up India side showed how to win at fortress Gabba and win a series in Australia

The bad news, we now face 9 Tests against India before we get to Australia  :#

fucking hate wade, think he's a very average bat and a bit too in your face attitude/hard man persona for his average batting skills. Thinking to some one like Matthew Hayden, who had a similar steely and feisty attitude, but you know, could also thwack a 90mph bowler with a new ball for 6 multiple times.

Who will captain though? It's always been thought paine was keeping it warm for smith for when enough time passes from the sandpaper incident, but maybe his shadow batting shenanigans have put paid to that?

They like a specialist captain so maybe they will bring in Travis Head!!

Agree about Wade hes a bit of a prick. I remember him having a right go at Root at the Oval in 2019 which was a bit weird.

Agree about Wade. He's a domestic bully who can't translate it to the International game. But he can translate his mouth!

I think they'll stick with Paine for a while. They will gloss this over as India beating them in each department, to buy more time.

Langer is a arrogant one too. When asked if they could have perhaps rotated the bowlers over the series, he responds naming each player to ask the journalist who he would rotate from and to.  :D

langer is just defending his team, the aussie bowling attack is absolutely class though, the only part of the team that can hold a candle to the late 90s/early 00's team imo. Saved their bacon in the 19 ashes as well as labuschange.
  • The aussies are proving to be as good at defending a lead as Charlton are!

I listen to the Mark Wood / Miles Jupp podcast (Middle Please, Umpire) and really enjoyed last weeks episode where they interviewed Merv Hughes and thought it quite interesting when he talked about the sledging and how they discussed who to target for each match. I admire the confident arrogant nature of Australians, but LOVE it when it backfires. When we went to the Ashes in Melbourne & Sydney, the first session was always the Aus Fans shouting abuse at their nearest fielder. I have fond memories of this one guy shouting 'Tremlett' for about 20 mins repeatedly and when he finally turned round he said 'You're S**t' the next ball he got a wicket.  The fan got such abuse at that point and didn't come back after the next over. Obviously England were doing well, and I would say you could probably count on two hands how many Australians were still in the ground after tea. Those that were still in were drunk and asleep. The stewards also didn't tolerate the 'banter' and kicked a fair few Australians fans out of the ground between lunch and tea when they were throwing their toys out of the pram. Love it. 'he bowls to the left......'
