Should be winning.0

What if Bogle had taken the penalty and shot wide

A scruffy game, been disappointed with our passing, it's all been quite frantic
You can't point a finger at individuals, it's more the team play which has been a bit below par1 -

Was never a penalty, and it was never going in the moment Jackson shouted at Bogle not to take it.
That comment is utter drivel.
But tell me where at all did I say it was JJs fault? Go on.6 -

Bogle and Washington have had scraps so far. I just hope we can create more in the 2nd half and nick a goal from somewhere.
We've been the better team so far. Yes Amos has made a couple of good saves but we could easily be 2 or 3 up and we're the only team playing any sort of football.
2-0 to Charlton.2 -
Lucky to be level.
Gills look quite good.
We look rusty and far too deep when in possession.
Maatsen is very good.
Maddison will be after three to four matches.1 -
Very slow build-up all the time, meaning we are spending very little time in the opposition half. I'd like to see us get the ball upfield a bit quicker.

We have 63% possession. No wonder we're not winning7

I'm desperate to score. But I doubt that's enough to let the management bring me on to take a penalty!0

I’ve just made that up but seems believable7 -

Gillingham get ball.
Attack down right.
Comes to nothing.
Charlton slow build up.
Comes to nothing.
Gillingham get ball.
Attack down right.
Rinse and repeat.
Hopefully it will open up a bit in second half.
A penalty miss, a great save from Amos, great 30 yard + free kick from Maddison, Watson's shot from his own half, Shinnie's long ranger just over the bar, a row over who takes the penalty, Steve Evan's screaming like a demented twat and various other chances ....
I was actually thinking that from a neutral perspective it' been quite a good match. Certainly compared to most of the others I've seen this season - ours and elsewhere.
I found it boring and I explained why I found it boring. Why am I 'being funny'? Why can't you simply just say, 'I personally didn't find it boring and this is why.'1 -

Get Smyth on. They are there for the taking. We'll win this and go top tonight.7

Fascinating watching us play out from the back every single time in Man city style. Actually seem really confident doing it. Just hope this confidence is well placed!
Still chuckle at those who doubted Ben Amos' ability to step in for Phillips. He's a quality goalkeeper.
Shame about the penalty but credit the goalkeeper for the save.
We will win this in the second half
And finally, Steve Evans really is a loud-mouth *****.0 -
Bogle has taken one penalty in the last 3.5 years (and missed it)9

oohaahmortimer said:I have to admit I’m a little worried with Amos’s handling as he slides out to make saves, he appears to spill the ball more than I think he should and I’ve been a big fan of his up till last couple of matches ... so he’s well in credit ... then he produces that worldly save ... so what do i know1

I mean bogle is a massive helm for assuming he was going to take the pen even though washington is penalty taker however I've got a quid on bogle 1st goal 2-0 charlton.
FFS Washington.3 -
I’m not blaming anyone. It was a decent penalty by Washington and a very good save by the keeper. But for all those saying Bogle should have taken it, what evidence do we have that he’s any good at taking penalties? Unless he’s a penalty specialist, why would you take the ball away from someone who does score, and give it to someone who doesn’t.1
-
Haven't seen as many Charlton games as most of you this season but the ones I have seen, Washington works hard but doesn't get on the ball enough. We had the same problem with Bonne in games last season.
Taylor was different type of striker/winger goal scorer.
Relax Conor will have a goal every 3 games despite that. Just like he has already.
I/We support our players.
Washington will make amends if not today then in the next game.
The down side to the constant changes is you can see the runs in the box look a bit random by the forwards today.
I said in the preview that I didn't think Washington would play because of the 3 games he played for NI.0 -

Not watching , but is it the case that Bogle definitely insisted on taking the penalty, ahead of the designated taker?0

Was a bit similar to Grant's penalty against Burton in 18/19 when it just about squeezed past the goalkeepet... Thought that penalty was pretty shit too1
