  • Defence are brilliant. Ryan Iniss MoM as he won every battle for 90 minutes. He and Farnewo best pairing we've had for years. Amos brilliant first half but little to do second. Gunter and Maatsen tidy.  Pratley scored a good goal and made a difference second half. Crappy game in awful conditions. Three really good points.

Terrible conditions but solid performance. We needed Pratley's strength in the middle and it was a professional job. Happy with that.

When you think of the conditions they were under SG and LB putting together a defence that's gone straight in and kept 4 clean sheets in row is absolutely unreal. They never cease to amaze me.

Three clean sheets and confidence growing, started very cagey and we neededa bit more experience and guile in midfield, especially as Northampton started strongly. The weather didn't really help either side and  it made for a scrappy first 45 that we slowly grew into.

Pratley made a difference when he came on and we could have scored 3-4 during that spell after the break.

Three big points now and a win in the week could take us into a play off position. Very happy Addick tonight.

At the back we are looking pretty solid.  Going forward today we weren't up to much, but when Gibley and Maddison are back on the scene, hopefully that will change.

Still, 3 points and a clean sheet; if we get that result every week for the entire season, I won't care if it gets us out of this grim league!

Very pleased although it seems like we are winning very ugly.
I am elated at where we are at. We cobbled together a team very late in the window, many have no experience playing with each other, our defense is good and... we are not giving up points in the last 10 minutes with lapses like we did all last year.
Given we were a few days away from Administration just a month ago, upper-half of table is great for me. No complaints!

    You're not trying hard enough

Really difficult conditions so really happy with 2 goal win away from home and another clean sheet. Good battling today. KFC battled well in the middle. Hope Doughty is ok. Bogle worked hard. Smyth should have scored. Amos instills confidence. Innis is no nonsense defender and always gives us a chance at set pieces. Not bad being an addict again at the moment

Amazing. Started the season fearing I wouldn't have a team to support. Started off with a disjointed team. Sandgaard has taken over and I would have settled for mid table. Now we are 6 points of top with a game in hand. Am I thinking the unthinkable. I am thinking Sunderland away 1st game of the season last time we were down here when we couldn't fill up  a bench.  We felt we were in real real troublee. Points per game wise we are much better now and players are still getting to know each other.  There doesn't appear to be any stronger teams like there was last time. We have nothing to fear.

    Lol!

    I'm sure you'll find something mate, I'm sure you'll find something .....!
Just don't point out to him that only two teams in the whole division have scored less than us!

Not the most 'spectacular' game in the world, in fact at times is was turgid! However another clean sheet and a hard fought win against the weather and a useful Town side. Innis was once again a tower,  Amos made two stunning saves and then Prately changed things when he came on, Williams played better in the second half and Smyth was running all game, finally you cant fault Bogle's running and at times showed some great control. Overall a game in the last couple of season we would have lost, today we 'ground' out a win. 3 wins on the spin, 4 clean sheets on the spin and we have Madison and Gilbey yet to play. A final mention for JFC, he is getting back to his best....more to come from him I think. So we go again Tuesday, I wonder what Robinson took from the game?

Especially given the conditions how good were the defence?! Really think in Famewo & Inniss we have something similar to Morrison & Taylor/Cort. Capably supported by Gunter & Maatsen. Behind them Amos superb.

  • Next two games will sort us out. Come away with four points from those and we’ll all start believing.

back 4 solid as a rock

still getting to know each other and going forward we will improve, MM, Gibley and Shinnie still to fire

play offs must be a minimum

Solid 3 points on a horrible day for football. I’d stopped watching from just after we scored the second as I was bored. Won’t draw any conclusions on our new players until I’ve seen a few games in decent conditions but already clear that we have a really good back 5 with a couple of potential cult heros. Smyth looks like he could be frustrating in terms of running around a lot with not much outcome and Levitt looks poor. But I won’t form a settled opinion for a while.  Beginning to lose heart with Jonny which is a shame as I like him but he contributes sod all. Bowyer probably needs another three or four games to decide what his go to 11 is.  And we need a break from the injury Gods (or a change in training/medical procedures but that, as they say, is another story). A great three points. File under “forgettable”. Nice glass of wine now.
  • Two games running where I wasn't happy with the balance in the starting midfield, but in both games Bowyer corrected it at half time. Torrential rain, gale force winds, bobbly pitch, a big physical opposition, today really wasn't the day for someone like Levitt, once Pratley came on our midfield 3 was more effective.

Amos was superb as well, brilliant handing in appalling conditions, but Inniss was ever better, he was exactly what we needed today, someone who loves defending, heading the ball away, clearing the ball, doing the ugly stuff

Bogle never looked like scoring, but I was quite impressed with his workrate

I wasnt impressed by Maatsen today, difficult game though given the conditions

Thought he struggled to get going for the most part, can see why he's been eased into the first team rather than starting straight away

We'll play a lot better than that and lose this season for sure, so good to snatch more points when we're still not at our best.

Hopefully Doughty was just a precaution but it's going to be a hamstring tear isn't it. Feels like it might be the start of the injuries racking up early, but at least Maddison made the bench and hopefully Aneke won't be out long. Pleased Bogle managed a full 90.

Would you pick Purrington to start the next game?

    Didn't think so.

"The change in the second half with Prattley in the midfield re-energised our attack and we became more fluid despite the worsening conditions."

No, we didn't. This is the fakest of news. The entire game was a truly dire shitfest played in gale-force winds against a team of brutes. We created even less passing play in the second half. The impact Pratley had was to offer us another big lad to stick in the box for a set-piece, and he duly Brexited one in from a decent knockdown and a Bogle random-ball-direction-generator. The actual game was a continuum of horror, and I'm very glad we came out on top, because fuck me, if we hadn't won that, I'd be a little glum right now. Glummer than I am. Which, given my various pronouncements on the match thread, is not as glum as I should be ;)

Ryan Inniss changed the game. He was our X-factor in both boxes. He has The Force
I feel like Naby's implosion for Huddersfield is a beautiful metaphor for how badly wrong you've got it today.

With the conditions like that you just have to take the result regardless of what happens, but looked brilliant at the back again despite the ball flying around everywhere

Gunter the perfect player in that you just don't need to worry about him at all
