We took a bit to get used to Northampton’s high pressing and the windy and wet conditions. Amos pulled off a number of good saves, the best of which was a double save from point-blank range. Northampton were unable to capitalise on their good start. The change in the second half with Prattley in the midfield re-energised our attack and we became more fluid despite the worsening conditions. Prattley was rewarded with a goal. Forster-Caskey came into his own in the second half alongside Prattley. Shame for Doughty going off, as his pace forced Northampton back numerous times and resulted in the own goal. Hopefully, he’s pulled something and will return soon, rather than a full on injury.
Three more points and another clean sheet. Can’t find fault with that.
Over to you.

Amos &Innis outstanding, with Pratley not far behind. Hope Alfie is ok, didn’t look good.Bloody awful conditions.
Come on you reds.12 -
Well, that one won’t be troubling the reminiscence group in years to come.
Shit league, terrible game, dreadful conditions - but there were some positives: strong defensively again, battling and competitive performance, Bows bringing Pratley on, two good goals and most of all, three wins on the spin, three points in the bag, up to 8th in the league with a game in hand over most above us.
That’ll do me.

Ryan Innis is an absolute mountain of a man, could head away a missile if he had too.33

Great result in awful weather.
Quite a few people’s comments from just a couple of week ago already starting to look a bit silly.
Innis is a monster30 - Sponsored links:

Great result
3 wins on the trot, what's not to like.
Bowyer confused me with his starting 11 but what do I know.
Feeling really good about this season just a shame we ain't there to witness it.
In the meantime

Good result had 1-2 but take 0-2
So on to Tuesday and an appointment with Oxford
should be another 3 points
come on you Reddddsssss0 -
Great. Just shows the importance of having balance in the midfield. Bowyer went for an adventurous midfield three but there wasn't a player in there intelligent enough to know how to support the others and it didn't work. JFC can't lead a midfield and Levitt is looking a bit lost so far. Pratley might not be the silkiest player ever but he makes such a difference to the balance of the side and allows others to play. It's not like he's a total disaster either, I think sometimes people forget that he was one of our best players in the Championship last season; he's going to be really important again this year. Good result and we're on a decent run now. 3 wins in 4, no defeats, all clean sheets.

We've had to wait 18 months for a straight run of three in the league. Looks like we've turned a corner1

Very pleased although it seems like we are winning very ugly.I am elated at where we are at. We cobbled together a team very late in the window, many have no experience playing with each other, our defense is good and... we are not giving up points in the last 10 minutes with lapses like we did all last year.Given we were a few days away from Administration just a month ago, upper-half of table is great for me. No complaints!

Be curious to see how impressed Bowyer was with that first half performance... It wasnt great but we certainly contained them
Honestly didnt think that Pratley was the answer and know I'm not the only one but he really has become Mr Dependable in this team
Apart from the Amos double save (which could have changed the game) I never felt that we were at threat of conceding
When I look at the League Table I think: "Sorry, pardon me, yup, scuse me... Coming through"18 -

Beat what's in front of you with the conditions as they are. Well done lads. Innis superb and scoring 2 (albeit with some luck) is a huge confidence boost to supplement the clean sheet. Happy days.3

Terrible first half. Second half we dominated. Don’t remember them having a shot on target in second half .
Watched on the hill outside the ground. Second half pissed it down. Saw both goals.
Bowyer gave up a clap at the end. Promotion bound I think.65 - Sponsored links:

Amos with a few good saves and did really well with claiming balls into the box, really impressed with his quick distribution today as well. Looks a top keeper at this level now he's played a few games.
Defence solid as usual with Gunter leading by example with a good performance. Inniss is a beast, especially from set pieces at both ends. Whoever came up with the idea of buying him gets my gratitude as he looks like he's gonna be key for us this season.
Midfield was poor in the first half and the game seemed to pass them all by. Performed much better when Pratley replaced Levitt and I hope Bows realises we need either Pratley or Watson in the middle surrounded by the more skilfull midfielders.
Strikers didn't have a lot to work with, but did a good job at chasing down loose balls and putting their defence under pressure. Smyth should've scored but can't have any real complaints today.
All in all was a good enough performance in tough conditions away from home. Happy with another clean sheet and the 3 points.

That was first class.Amos MOM, 2 Premier League quality saves at 0-0 and a great kick out to Alfie for the second.Four clean sheets in a row, that palarse boy is a monster at the back.Well done to the lads, pleased for the management team. Thomas has got them the players and we are starting to deliver.7

Playing into the wind suited us much better and stopped us aimlessly playing "kick & run". We also pressed more urgently to force them to go long, which was pretty much what they did to us in the first half0

"The change in the second half with Prattley in the midfield re-energised our attack and we became more fluid despite the worsening conditions."
No, we didn't. This is the fakest of news. The entire game was a truly dire shitfest played in gale-force winds against a team of brutes. We created even less passing play in the second half. The impact Pratley had was to offer us another big lad to stick in the box for a set-piece, and he duly Brexited one in from a decent knockdown and a Bogle random-ball-direction-generator. The actual game was a continuum of horror, and I'm very glad we came out on top, because fuck me, if we hadn't won that, I'd be a little glum right now. Glummer than I am. Which, given my various pronouncements on the match thread, is not as glum as I should be
Ryan Inniss changed the game. He was our X-factor in both boxes. He has The Force19 -
10 points from a possible 12
4 clean sheets
New squad looking good, defence looking solid
Happy days8 -
My god we need Gilbey and Maddison available ASAP. We created nothing but scored two. Pratley is fast becoming a bit of a legend in my opinion. His contribution is immense. Hard fought but it’s games like that we are needing to win to get out of the division. Well done lads.15

Oxford on Tuesday night will be our first serious test under this new Charlton team, worries me more than Portsmouth next Saturday
Robinson seems to be the one man who knows how Bowyer thinks with his teams / setup - Is why I'm so relieved that we got a result today!!5 -
Pratley the difference maker today playing where he should be in midfield. Our spine looks so good now with Amos, Inniss, Famewo and Pratley. Alfie looked dangerous and a real good outlet, shame he went off and hopefully not out for too long...3
