RIP THREADS

Tbf, that works either way, Big Rob.
If you go first, I hope Gary and Kelly will share their reminiscences on the RIP post.1 -
A final note to those that have died surely we are not that heartless. Long may it continue.

I have to agree. I too scroll through each morning to look for the more positive threads and avoid the RIP ones. You don't have to open them but you can't un-see that they are there. If I took your advice @AFKABartram I would miss the uplift from the posts that look at other subjects. My emotional balance is on a bit of a knife edge at the moment so avoiding the forum altogether wouldn't help me. But I realise you can't run a forum just for a nutter like me. For some of us it is contact with the outside world with people who share a big part of their lives in common.sillav nitram said:
I take your point and your sentiment @AFKABartram thanks but for me, my melancholy/fear/negativity could become crippling, if I heeded your advice, well meant as it is.AFKABartram said:Then in the kindest sense Sillav, I’m not sure open discussion platforms are best for you sir
And therefore I try to do what Jim Morrison sings-‘Break on Through to the Other side!’
It’s the only way otherwise I’d end up doing nothing.

I agree with a lot of what you say on here Beds but this is bollocks. How can you have a problem with wishing someone Happy Birthday?!!!Bedsaddick said:Can we get rid of lifers Birthday threads as well ?0 -
And another thing.
Can we have fewer football threads.
Especially Charlton threads, they're a bit excluding to supporters of other clubs.
No wonder most members are Charlton fans when so many threads are about just this one club.
Even the categories are biased.

Right, got time on my hands
what are the top 10 RIP threads?
don't just want people putting random dead people down, want a list 1-10.Don’t wanna go through all the other threads just hit me with your list.10 of them not 4 not 9 but 102 -
Sorry got confused with the Netflix thread.0

I am an occasional Lifer, much less so recently with no football. Just came on for a quick look and I am appalled by the cynical, disrespectful posts on here. Only on a football forum could people fall out over whether it is right or wrong for people to want to remember someone who has passed away. Look at how inappropriate the post above is.PopIcon said:
No you are right, theres not enough.suzisausage said:
We’re in the middle of a pandemic. Lots of people are currently dying and there is no new football on the tv. Hardly surprising?se9addick said:
Because you can still see the thread title, it can turn the place from what is (normally) a football forum to an obituaries section.MuttleyCAFC said:It is pretty evident what the RIP threads are. If you see somebody that was part of your life and you want to pay respects, what is the problem? If you don't, don't open the thread surely.
From now on when I hear of someone who has died I'll just start a new thread.
Forget about football and embrace death.
I use to come on here for fun, these days I'm here for misery.Shame on the lot of you.
If someone feels it is appropriate to post an RIP thread for someone they new, loved, respected, whatever that is entirely appropriate. If you disagree, keep a respectable silence. And respect those who feel differently.6 -
Christ alive we need football back 🤦♂️🤦♂️2

do the same as for Politics .. make it a specialised thread for the dead1

I agree and 99% of the time I do exactly that. This time it needed to be said so cut the clever-clogs comments.SheffieldRed said:

By creating this thread you made it 6 on the opening pagePopIcon said:We dont need one for everyone who dies, there are five on the opening page. Unless its Charlton related can we just put them all in one thread?
It's getting like an obituary section in a local newspaper. I'm not cold hearted, just think there are way too many.
Personally agree that there do tend to be a lot of them, but don't have an issue with them as you just scroll on past them.0
