Presumably, the EFL want to wait a bit so that they can make a points deduction that is just too little to affect relegation. Then, they can say that they acted on FFP.6

Have a feeling this is part true. The issue is if Wednesday and Derby continue there form where they are consistently 9-10 points off relegation, EFL won't do anything. This is me presuming EFL know they want to issue pint reductions of 11+ pints to each team.
Surely at some point, they have to issue the point reduction, can't just put it off until next season as the rules say - I think - if the charge is issued before March then the fine/point deduction is put into place during current season.

The efl need to be careful. If they go easy on derby and sheff wed, are they then encouraging teams to break the rules.5

Wednesday have a fairly tough run in, facing a lot of sides in (or chasing) the play offs.
If they are deducted 10+ points then that could well be our best hope of staying up.3 -

The Birmingham appeal decision probably means that the Efl will take the minimum action against Derby and Sheffiel Wednesdsy so that they do not appeal the decision.0

Reckon this will be the case. Meaning clubs that don't break the rules therefore not having the financial clout to compete end up battling relegation. Cant see the EFL being brave enough to make a decision this late in the season that will relegate a team. They'll drag this out and one or both will start next year on -12 points.3

Both have tough run ins too. In April for example, Derby face Forest, West brom, Cardiff, Brentford and Leeds.
For those wondering if it's too late in the season, Birmingham were deducted 9 points on 22 March last season. At the time it dropped them from 13th to 18th and left them 5 points above the relegation zone with 8 games to play.1 -

Chatting to someone at the club and they reckoned the EFL are really going after Wednesday. Talking about 20 points or even relegation this season and points deduction next season. Don't know how reliable that is but there you go.

Or could other clubs then group together and take action? Once you are promoted from this division you are not subject the EFL sections, as you are then under the Premiership rules.0

The problem for them is they reduced Birmingham's deduction to 9 points last season because they co-operated and pleaded guilty. Wednesday tried to sue the EFL so they will have a job not giving them more due to this.stoneroses19 said:

EFL has failed to convince the independent disciplinary commission that Birmingham were in breach of their agreed financial arrangement after last season's 9 point penalty situation.
If EFL can't do simple arithmetic and dick about bringing a meritless case against brum, there's the square root of fuck all chance they'll make anything stick on Wednesday or Stoke or anybody else.
Not fit for purpose.
If Charlton's big hope is that the gravy train leaches at the EFL will, or even can, run a tight disciplinary ship then we're cattle trucked.

No surprise to see some massive charges coming through from his labyrinth of group companies, Loser de Twonk's salary will turn out to have been £2.5M and a gargantuan severance package voted to histwuntship for compensation for loss of office as director. His company to do with exactly as he saw fit, huh, right up to 01/01/2020 and he held the chequebook til then too.
Would fit with the apparent lack of firepower in the January transfer window as well... ESI between a rock and a hard place.

The EFL need to tread carefully because if they fudge their own rules and a relegated club with deep pockets takes court action they may well be in the brown stuff. Deep pockets may or may not refer to us, but nobody knows.
It is only natural justice that those disadvantaged by cheating should have retribution not promoted sides that are unaffected.0 -
Given that Birmingham got a 9 point deduction last season for non-compliance and Wednesday have, in addition, allegedly committed a further serious offence in attempting to deceive the EFL (shades of Man City ?), it's very hard to see how they can escape with less than a 12 point deduction. Logically it should be more, although who knows with the EFL.
As others have said, though, it will only help if we can pick up some points ourselves in the last 9 games, starting on Saturday.0 -

Give Wednesday a 9 point deduction or less and they stay up ahead of us, and it looks really cynical
On the other hand, give them a 10 point deduction and they end up in the bottom 3 with no chance of making the deficit up again, unlike if they had been given it with games to play1 -
