Sibley is boring but just what we need at the top of the order. Pitch helping though, can't see 30+ wickets on this that's for sure.

There are people on the pitch, they think it’s all over...

Nice throwback to cricket as it was in my youth.

This might be the first session of the first day but this wicket has got a five day draw written all over it.
5 days, but hopefully an England win.

    Good start.

The last time England batted throughout the first session of a Test match, without Cook and Strauss being the two openers, was twelve years ago.

Pretty common at championship matches these days. Even at grounds such as the peoples home of cricket -The Oval.

Trying to convince the people around me that 103 for 1 off 48 overs is exactly the start we wanted. I think I may be a bit old

Crawley had to play at that ball. Can't leave it but need to find a way to do something other than steer it to the man. Fantastic catch tho.

Did England pick the wrong Crawley ?? Looking at the run rate it looks like "creepy" Crawley is out there.....🤔

Anyone know when Kent last had two players bat together in a test match?

It would have happened in the seventies but has it happened since then?

Yet another 100 ball occupation plus of the crease by Denly without kicking on

Ireland have just scored the highest number of runs in the powerplay in a T20I, ever.

    93-0 off 6.

    Keep it up Stirling...
I thought Paul Stirling had retired from internationals in order to continue playing for Middlesex? or did I get that the wrong way round?

Either way its ridiculous they are forced to chose
    That was Murtagh I think
Ahh yeah. So why was one player allowed to continue playing internationals and the other forced to choose?
Murtagh probably felt the most expendable if classified as an overseas player?

15th August 1981, Fifth Ashes Test, Manchester, England's second innings.  Tavare (78) and Knott (59).  (They also batted together in the first innings).

Not sure if it's happened since.

There can't have been too many batsmen like Denly who have batted in Test cricket 24 times with no hundreds and yet only been out in single figures in 3 of them:

    6
    17
    20
    69
    23
    10
    18
    11
    30
    26
    12
    50
    4
    53
    14
    94
    75
    35
    4
    50
    31
    28
    31
    25

He seems to doing the hard bit in getting in (15 of them are 20 plus) so is this a shot selection or concentration issue because ?

Pope is true quality. He should be told that he is in the Test side for the whole of 2020 regardless of his scores because the only thing that will undo him is confidence. But he doesn't seem to be lacking on that front either.
