The Takeover Thread - Duchatelet Finally Sells (Jan 2020)

My dear departed parents used to play The Sheikh of Araby as a duet on the old Joanna. Mum on the high notes, Dad thumping out the bass, must be 25 years since that happened last. Here's hoping my little bit of self indulgence gets lost amid the other 70 thousand comments.Lincsaddick said:let's hope that we are not dealing with a fake sheikh from Arabique ..

Sure I read somewhere that their first contact was 4 weeks before it was publicly announced.Stu_of_Kunming said:
A very much doubt they only showed interest a few weeks ago, I imagine that's just when we found out.i_b_b_o_r_g said:
Tbf, this current lot only showed interest a couple of weeks ago and, if the reports are to be believed, it's only dragging because of EFL procedures.ShootersHillGuru said:I hope that a couple of months from now we’re not posting about and hoping the Aussies get their act together.0 -

Don’t think there’s info to be had. The EFL are asking questions and hopefully they are being sufficiently answered.ShootersHillGuru said:Was hoping that somebody might have gleaned a bit of info today but seems not.Fully expect it to go through, just probably early January now.0 -

SHG turn up to a game, you may hear something1 -
Even if it's cynical PR, at least it's effective cynical PR, which makes a nice change. Don't think we've had that since the {...} statement caused Mel Baroni to do a runner.Rothko said:it’s either going all fine and Southall is doing a great thing seeing the Upbeats, or it’s cynical PR he’s rocking up there. My Fulham mate who used to work at the EFL in the Finance Department phoned me today to say he'd been contacted by them to see if he was free to assist over Christmas and the New Year with some financial due diligence for them.
As they pay about 60% of what Ann Summers is currently paying him he politely refused.
The bloke has no sense of the dramatic.

In the event of the deal doesn't get done till March will this issue of VOTV be republished. Glad I have worked in publishing for 30 years. Always wait till the ink is dry.Airman Brown said:

They responded quickly to Duchatalet's statement, not the application for new ownership by ESI. Therefore waffle. Although their 10 day rule is ambiguous, any delay seems not to have been explained according to the RD report.Henry Irving said:
You moaned they hadn't responded within ten days but they had.harveys_gardener said:Henry I've read that comment but it is waffle. Do they say the ball is back in the ESI court? No. They are prevaricating which is damaging to our chances of competing in this division. Do they give a reason for their failure to make a judgemental? No.
FFS due diligence. When has that been visible in EFL dealings?
At the end of the day they have issued a statement giving no indication why there is a delay.
You moaned they hadn't responded to Duchatelet's rant only hours after the event but they responded the same afternoon.
You moaned the statement is waffle as it gives no indication why there is a delay but ESI are saying there is no delay.
What more can the EFL say about a confidential process? ESI are crooks? Duchatelet lied? The numbers don't add up?
They can't comment in any detail and nor should they.
I don't have 100% faith in the EFL, I've met with them, but I have zero faith in the person trying to pin all the blame on them; Roland Duchatelet.
Did I say they had not responded to the RD rant? No.
ESI have given no statement on the procedure.
EFL can say "we have asked for further clarification" They have not done so publicly.1 -
It says "it's not a done deal" though @WhenIwasLittleBoyWhenIwasLittleBoy said:
