    Crikey.

Are we going straight through the Championship?

I'm going to go straight through my underpants at this rate.

Come on Roland, give Taylor what he's asking for! Surely then if he leaves Roland would make a fortune.

Shout out to you lot. Loud and proud all game long. Had to sit on my hands throughout. What a performance, especially second half - quality across the pitch
Me too! I was sat near the Reading supporters next to ours. I was very well behaved until I had to comment when the bloke behind said we were 'one dimensional'!

Unbelievable stuff! Is our style of play the best we have seen from a Charlton team in living memory? We had some cracking teams under Curbs but Bowyer seems to be able too add that bit extra that has you on the edge of your seat and the fans fired up for most of the game.

Win was also vital today as being sensible, i can't help think we need as many points as possible by the Wigan game as after that things get a lot lot tougher.
Its frustrating yet despite our good start we could still lose our next two and end up in 13th
That's assuming that the 11 clubs now beneath us each win both their next 2 games.

As many of those clubs play each other in that period, it can't happen in the next 2 games.

    Sorry to disappoint, Forever.

Unlikely but who knows, let’s just enjoy it.

We will know a lot more by the end of October.

He will take us to the next level and help us compete against Leeds, Swansea, Fulham etc.

Shite ref, dubious pen no doubt, and a very lucky deflection by the sound of it. Think i'll pop over to the Reading forum for some normality.
Nice try. Deflection maybe fortunate but a blind man with a broken stick and a sick do would have given that pen

great win  and we are second .. dizzy heights .. do you reckon the BBC could have found a worse picture of Taylor ? .. they are taking the piss methinks

It's the effect of the acceleration as he's climbing the table.

Cant stop laughing at that imagine on the left of Bowyer...

Would love it if Bowyer gives the response of: "Nah just looking to survive"  when he gets asked about the Premier League when we sit on 85-pts

EE Aye, EE Aye, EE Aye' Oh , up the football league we go , when we win promotion, this is what we'll sing, we are Charlton, we are Charlton, Bowyer is our KING!
The first time I sung that, it was "...Saunders is our KING!"

Now it would be "...Saunders is inside".
  • What a second half. Worth the shitty bus service junk to and from the stadium for that performance.

All players were on their game. But biggest joy was seeing Johnny Williams running amok in the second half. I think Bowyer took him off to avoid one of the Reading players taking a lump out of him, as he was looking absolute Premier League quality. Keep it up Johnny lad.

Is that 5 goals on the spin from Taylor?
    Didnt score against Brentford
None of us scored against Brentford and the Aussies won the Headingley test, at least in their worlds.

    Superb performance, cracking atmosphere.

How good is it to be able to make substitutions that actually have a positive effect on the game. Chuks was a handful as soon as he came on.

Saw we have only lost twice this calendar year so far, don't think I've ever known us have so few defeats from January - September.

Watched the stream, amazing performance and effort, love Gallagher, he’s going to be some player, also thought Field looked assured. Cracking start to the season.

    On a stream.

This is getting a bit silly now.
As a combination of factors we have the smallest budget, a relatively inexperienced manager (six games at this level) a pretty young team, and are favourites to go down.
Perhaps Charlton should be censured in some way for not following the pre-ordained script!
The explanation of everything is whatever Lee Bowyer say it is, end of.
In my view so far this season in terms of sheer willingness to compete only Barnsley have matched us, and whilst there are good skilled players in every team we have played, indeed good management and teamwork too, what Charlton are doing is squeezing every last bit of juice out of the battling imperative bottle...because bottle is what we show game after game.
The secret others haven't sussed yet is that we have some pretty good players too. We are underestimated, and we out fight opponents.
In a decent nip and tuck first half we might have scored, but so might Reading, hitting the woodwork and a great save from Phillips when Reading broke free after we gave the ball away.
However the second half was very different.
Was it that Reading were bemused that we hadn't laid down and died for them, and once they reached half time they simply didn't have the stomach to face a Charlton trademark performance for another 45 minutes?
We basically took over and dictated virtually all of the second half, we had built a platform and were going to capitalise. OK Leko's goal took an unlucky deflection for Reading, but we had a lot of chances at regular intervals, I don't think Reading threatened despite decent approach play, their best chance came from a late free kick very well saved by an excellent Phillips.
    Any Phillips critics around today?
No I don't think there are.
Aneke came on after an hour for Williams whose 15 minute second half cameo was probably better that his first half performance, and Aneke shifted the prism a little bit and we became even more dangerous than we had been up to then. Aneke was brought down for a penalty that looked stonewall to me.
Now guys. How many of you now think a Lyle penalty is a formality, and how many of you still have to hold your breath and battle the nerves? Even with the keeper attempting to play geometric mind games with Lyle it was no good for him, and of course for every one of us it was never in doubt...was it?!?!

We won because at the moment we have a team of winners, the fact that we totally deserved it is an added bonus.

    Clean sheet.
    Undefeated.
    International break.

Does it get much better than this after six games?

It is going to get a lot lot tougher from now on in, but we might just about have the cojones to survive.

As for the players. I have mentioned Dillons saves, Solly might get sorted once in a move, but if an attacker does not immediately capitalise Solly does not get beaten twice. I thought he was superb, as was the whole defence. Pearce, Lockyer and Purrington are three more great defenders, and defensively I believe we were very much better than Reading.
In midfield we had baldylocks and the three baby loans. I mean Gallagher and Cullen were so effective in their roles, and for me having seen a very disappointing Field against Forest Green, I would say he was our best player for the first hour and that was even after being shackled by a booking. Williams is Williams.
Just as Taylor is Taylor. The guy takes the brunt, gives everything every game and regularly scores, what more do we want? That he gives away free winning lottery tickets to our fans every game? Leko can be frustrating I know, but Bowyer is right about his unpredictability and I am glad he scored, keeps his pecker up. Pratley was the perfect sub yet again, Hamed not especially noticeable.

The Charlton fans were so good, so loud and so sustained I thought we were playing at home. They were excellent, the challenge is to be that excellent when we hit a stumbling block.

This is all getting, as I say, rather silly now, I can't be doing with my head spinning this much.

Who are you and where is the real Seth Plum?

Unbeaten and 14 points accrued in August...outstanding.
    It's brilliant, isn't it?

I was just looking at the results and table - and see Derby languishing in the lower bottom half.

Couldn't help but thinking, I wonder if Krystian Beilik ever wishes that he could've come back to Charlton and rejoined Lee Bowyer's 'journey'?
Mate I bet Bauer, Aribo, Dijksteel and Grant are also looking at the results tonight and thinking whilst my bank balance is looking a bit better, I wish I was back with the gang.

Still I'm sure they will be enjoying their Saturday nights out tonight in Preston, Middlesbrough and Huddersfield!

First away game of the season and well worth the wait. A bit of a scrappy first half but much improved in the second and we ran out deserved winners. In fact, it could easily have been 4-1 as we fluffed 2 or 3 good chances and they hit the bar a couple of times. I thought every player played their part and was especially pleased to see Chris Solly win his individual duel against a very tricky opponent. Of the others, a special mention for Chuks Aneke, who showed great control and a sharp footballing brain in prompting our second half attacks.

Great to see a few lifers, and have a brief chat with @Pico @AFKABartram and @PeterGage

I really wasn't expecting three points today but this Bowyer side continue to outstrip (my) expectations. Far too early to be thinking in terms of possible promotion, but we certainly look a million miles away from the relegation fodder that many forecast.
