Will be interesting to see what the shape is like tomorrow. Was the 5 at the back out of necessity or is that how Bowyer wants to play now? The 4-4-2 diamond worked well for us last season but it does tend to get exposed further up the leagues, especially seeing as we haven't got the most dynamic full backs going. I'm expecting the diamond again, mostly because I think Bowyer would have wanted more centre halves if we were sticking with 5 at the back (though I think he will see Pratley as an option there). Regardless of the shape hopefully we can capitalise on Stoke still being in transition and cause them a bit of grief and nick a win

    1-1.

Taylor with a deliberate own goal and celebrating by taking his shirt off to reveal a Brentford Tattoo covering the whole of his chest.

Taylor then feels guilty, equalises and celebrates by punching Bowyer in the face.

That would be a real "I was there...." moment.
  • A struggle but 2-1 home win.

I doubt we're ready for this, just saying..
  • Now need everyone to turn up tomorrow. Need a big crowd and a lot of noise to back the boys and show them we mean business this season.

Looking at the website looks like  just over 16,000 sold in home areas. Be great if we could push that nearer 20,000

A lot of people still on holiday but hopefully those that are around will make the effort.

Fancy a 2-1 home win....selection will be a nice headache for LB to have for once...Id play Kayal from the off along with Gallagher, Cullen, but hey whoever LB puts out I'm sure will battle hard and get us of to a 2 from 2 start.
  • Given what Bowyer said today, i don't think Aneke will start
  • Too soon for a settled fully firing Addicks what with all those new lads to integrate. Stoke will be very tough.

    I’m going 1 - 2 to the Potters
  • Doubt we will see wholesale changes to the starting lineup on Sat.  Why change a winning team.  Solly will start obviously and Gallagher may also if we change shape but Id be surprised at any others.  Bench will look a bit stronger though!

Think it'll be another 2-1 win.  Hard to call - think only Cullen, Williams and Kayal of the "new boys" will start.  Would like to see more of Gallagher.  The bench will be interesting - but suspect most of the newbies will get some action on Tuesday night...

Would love Gallagher to get involved (earlier than last week) as I've got a feeling he's the real gem out of all the new ones.

    2:1 Charlton.
     Taylor, Galagher...

Taylor scores, goes ape, points to his name on the back while raising the badge of his shirt...
  • A difficult week for Charlton but on paper things look better after the transfer window. Hopefully we will carry on being competitve as we did last week at Blackburn. Stoke remind me of us coming down after years of being in the premiership, no matter what players we brought in the momentum was downwards. So I would be surprised if they make top 6 and Jones could be a man under pressure. Still think they will beat us tomorrow though as we huff and puff but hit a blank. 1-0 Stoke

I know that Lyle has been a Journeyman Footballer in his 29 and a half years,
( not 30 ) but didn't realize he played for Stoke on his travels !

At the risk of being branded a wanker I think we will lose.
  • Have Stoke sold out the away end do we know ?

I actually think we'll handle Stoke comfortably. 2-0 Taylor and a lovely Jonny Williams solo effort

Who knows? but I would change your team with two players FA. Gallagher for Forster-Caskey and I think Aneke will be on the bench, not fit yet so Kayal to play. After being totally wrong with my pessimistic view last week and feel more positive with the new signings, so go for a 2-0 win
