The Takeover Thread - Duchatelet Finally Sells (Jan 2020)

So Duchatelet isn't spitful or is a fan of Schadenfreude according to the big hitters on CL, He is just a Pragmatic old money bags playing the long game.
How reassuring to know it was nothing personal when we start the 20/21 season in League two with about 4 of the present squad.0 -

The problem is that owners tend to mad egotistical maniacs who don't like hugging. Oh for a consortium of local businessmen.Raith_C_Chattonell said:
Can you not (using your special skills @Airman) introduce Muir to the new lot? That way they can form a consortium, the risk can be spread and we can all be happy.Airman Brown said:
Muir is now the only Australian investor, which suggests they are in no position to complete, but the party who walked away after being quoted more than £70m before Christmas are now back at the table.CheshireAddick said:So, any takeover news yesterday?......please!!
Group hug everyone ... anyone?
Knowing our luck it'll be Screwfix .

No. This is all that remains of the Aussie consortium.3 -
"Is" would be more appropriate than "re-emerged" though. It implies he emerged, disappeared and then emerged again, which is not, I think, what happened.Henry Irving said:
Hence re-emergedChizz said:
It seems to suggest he stopped being involved and has now become involved again. Whereas, what seems more likely is that he has been involved with one (probably not more than one) consortium since the very beginning.Henry Irving said:

This really will go on until infinity and beyond.0

Is it giving Roland a Buzz knowing that us fans have to wait Lightyears for the takeover to go through?grumpyaddick said:This really will go on until infinity and beyond.2 -
Yes, that's what I said. He was mentioned, then not mentioned for a long while then was mentioned again recently so he re-emerged.Chizz said:

All I can say is thank God there is a Fans Forum on 20th February where all will (not) be made clear!0

There were 5 wealthy Aussies in a consortium, and if one wealthy Aussie should accidentally fall, there'll be 4 wealthy Aussies to spreads all the costs.
There were 4 wealthy Aussies in a consortium, and if one wealthy Aussie should accidentally fall, there'll be 3 wealthy Aussies to spread all the costs.
There were 3 wealthy Aussies in a consortium, and if one wealthy Aussie should accidentally fall, there'll be 2 wealthy Aussies to spread all the costs.
There were 2 wealthy Aussies in a consortium, and if one wealthy Aussie should accidentally fall, there'll be 1 wealthy Aussie called Muir all on his own.
It's child's play to work out what's going on.14 -
The minutes for that have already been drawn up for publication.robinofottershaw said:All I can say is thank God there is a Fans Forum on 20th February where all will (not) be made clear!

Having a crisis at CAFC is par for the course, the biggest difference now is when we nearly went out of business, or the 7 wilderness years away from the Valley there was always Charlton People fighting our corner. Fans and good directors etc.
Airman has told the stories in the voice and on line so we known that narrative.
I'm not sure we have ever been so shackled because despite winning the battles in the media and Meire taking her flaky CV to Sheffield we are impotent in winning the War because Duchatelet holds all the Aces.
As Richard Murray said 18 years ago at a Bromley addicts meeting, while i'm putting the most money into this club I have the final say on everything concerning CAFC.
The man in his Brussels bunker is now in that position.
Being at the mercy of an aging rich eccentric businessman and failed politician,
(Duchatelet not Murray !) We the supporters are now in a very dark place, as we wait and wait, and wait a bit more with no Charlton fans close to negotiations unlike in the days gone by.
PS. Chris Parkes is a Charlton fan but has no influence on proceedings.3 -
Gain promotion, sell the club.

So no take over with a no deal Brexit in the offing. Its going to be a cheery rest of the year. Next season is looking like a road crash. Lets hope the ones given a silly price in December, are given a more sensible price & have the funds to purchase and invest. If the Aussies are back to square one / out of the picture then hopefully Duchatelet sees that he may he will lose more money if he doesn't sell before sterling potentially plunges even further (apologies to mention the ‘B’ word but it could be relevant to a sale & Duchatelet’s thinking).0

With @Airman Brown latest revelations, I think I need to park up outside Keith Harris’s home and demand some straight answers!!!!11

They will hardly have been minted but I see no reason why the AFL might have pulled out. The delay would not change their aim of attracting Australians living in the capital.Taxi_Lad said:With @Airman Brown latest revelations, I think I need to park up outside Keith Harris’s home and demand some straight answers!!!!

It’s so depressing.
We are reliant on the financial support of a bloke with no interest in our club and no desire to see it progress. Who is demanding an unrealistic value to pass on the keys.
We are reliant on a variety of fixers, some with a connection to our club, some with no connection, ALL governed by self interest, cobbling together whoever they can to ensure they get their fixer fee or equivalent personal benefit.
We are reliant on whatever rich idiot(s) who get talked into having a punt by the successful fixer to undertake a level of sensibleness and not make a bad situation worse. To hope that it’s not a property play, or an unrealistic expectation to profit from the Prem without a realistic plan, or a platform for another experiment.
I’m going to need real convincing of the chances that any of of this will end well31 -
Definitely need the Fans Forums to get more verbally hostile, they need to know we don't believe their lies anymore.AFKABartram said:It’s so depressing.

Words are one thing, actions are quite another. It doesn’t matter who takes us over, I’ll only be convinced by how they run the club.AFKABartram said:It’s so depressing.

It would make those doing it feel better and if LDT or anyone else refuses to do these it may force the EFL to.......Oh yeah you are probably right.AFKABartram said:
