  • Number 1 seed Halep out, beaten by Serena in 3 sets.

    Bollocks!!
  • Tsitsipas is in the Semi Final

He is the youngest Grand Slam Semi Finalist since Djokovic in 2007

Also all the talk last year about Zverev and Tsitsipas has made a semi before him.

Nadal or Tiafoe next for him, expect it to be Rafa as he hasnt dropped a set yet

Kyle Edmund made the semi last year, but maintaining the progress can be hard. In the women's game we had a series of first time Grand Slam winners who then slumped afterwards
  • Incredible comeback from Pliskova.

1-5 and 30-40 down in the final set, she reels off 6 straight games (and saving more match points) to beat Serena and reach the semi finals.

But Serena twisted her ankle. She certainly wouldn't have lost otherwise.

Possibly true but she still had 3 match points even after the ankle twist. Also i couldn't work out why she didn't ask for the trainer to get treatment on the ankle.

But then after the match she said "My ankle seems to be fine. I don’t usually know until the next day. I think she just played lights out on match points, hitting lines. She just played unbelievable on match points."

On another note: Since Hawkeye is so precise, why don't they get rid of the line judges?

  • Kvitova destroys Collins and moves into her third ever grand slam final. She won both the other 2 in straight sets.
  • US Open champion Osaka prevails against Pliskova in 3 sets.

Winner of the final will be the new world number 1.
  • Nadal eases past Tsitsipas losing just 6 games. Into the final without dropping a set.

Nice to see a new women's GS champion following it up in the next GS instead of just slumping for 9 months, that suggests Osaka is here to stay

Really pleased for Kvitova too, after what she's been though
  • Two big servers in the woman's game.
    Evenly matched final.
No breaks of serve after 10 games,
If Osaka wins she can really celebrate after the Williams debacle.
If Kvitova wins the emotions of the last 3 years will overwhelm her at the end.
  • Tie break first set.
  • Osaka wins 1st set and will take some stopping now.
  • Really hope Osaka gets to enjoy the victory this time round if she wins

Shame she cant do it again against Williams
  • 1 set all !

    What happened there ?

5-3 up and 3 match points how did Osaka lose that set when she was cruising.

    Great guts by Petra.
  • Petro, do toho!

Osaka found her Mojo in 3rd set and wins back to back slams and becomes number 1.
Kvitova is a great champion who has overcome the stabbing to compete again at the top of her sport.

A good contest that Osaka shaded.
  • Shame for Petra, but great to see her back. Good for the women's game to have a new star, 2 GS in a row is a real statement from Osaka.
  • Djokovic killing Nadal here so far, 6-3 6-2.

  • Easy win. 6-3 6-2 6-3

Djokovic moves to 15 grand slams.
  • Djok masterclass
  • Think he may well dominate the next few years, can see him overtaking Federer's 20 Grand Slams.
  • That was incredible. Nadal has looked absolutely awesome all tournament and his physical appearance was stunning. John McEnroe couldn’t stop talking about how fit he looked. Commentators did start hinting that maybe Nadal may have been carrying an injury but he would never mention it. Djokovic was so strong, quick and his first serve excellent. He was a step ahead of Nadal the whole match. Can’t rule out him completing his second personal Grand Slam in Paris.

I know, he's so hunky and exotic.

Which would be an interesting challenge to Federer's "GOAT" status...

Especially as a lot of Federer's titles were before Nadal and Djokovic (and indeed Murray) came to the fore
  • The whole GOAT thing drives me mad! How many slams would Rod Laver have won if he'd been allowed to play in the many he was unable to? Surfaces, equipment, balls, medical supplements and treatment of injuries are so different to 40 years ago and beyond.
Just appreciate sportsmen as they are in their own era.

    You get GOTE or GOCE
