Comments

  • Steer: 6 - couldnt do much for the goals conceded. a couple decent saves at his near post
Dijksteel: 5 - really shaky. had no clue what to do with the ball once he received.
Bauer: 6 - overall solid. nice assist
Pearce: 6.5 - lots of clearances to sweep up.
Solly: 6 - started okay but faded as game went on
Bielik: 7 - best player on the pitch for us today. terrible decision to take him off.
Reeves: 5.5 - a few nice touches but no running. stuck between coming back to get the ball and running behind.
Pratley: 6 - good goal. not sharp enough today. hes not a creator at all.
Fosu: 4 - only had 1 decent shot that was saved near post. at fault for final goal conceded. let oppo run right past him into our box. lazy!
Taylor: 5.5 - looked soft today. got bullied everywhere. touch poor on a breakaway opportunity.
Ajose: 5 - honestly touched the ball only 3 or 4 times the entire first half. too much wants the ball behind and never shows to ball.
Grant: 6 - much better partner for Taylor
Marshall: 6 - offered something down the right flank but final ball was rather poor most the time.

my lowest ratings for a good long while

    Referee: 8 v good ref
    Steer: 7 extremely solid
Dijksteel: 4.5 just not a full-back as i keep saying
Bauer: 6 did whatever a bauer does
Pearce: 4.5 praise him when he's good (which he usually is) - but he wasn't good, he was done for both goals and he kept committing fouls
Solly: 6.5 mostly reliable and some great tackles
    Bielik: 5.5 not his day
Reeves: 7 thought he was our best player while he was on
Pratley: 5 and that's generous. scored and was otherwise a complete waste of space
    Fosu: 5 not his day
Taylor: 7 held it all together, muffed his chance but played well i thought
Ajose: 5 did not hold it all together, ran a lot at least
    Grant: 4.5 completely invisible
Marshall: 7 showed good endeavour and scared them
  • Referee: 6 - We could’ve had 2 players off I reckon. They could’ve had 3/4 more booked

Steer: 6 - Nothing of note

Diksteel: 5 - Coventry have done us from wide positions in both their wins. He didn’t do enough to stop the ball coming in

    Bauer: 7 - Solid

Pearce: 7- See Bauer, no help from Wingbacks

    Solly: 5

Bielik: 7- Could’ve maybe been sent off but was by far and away our best CDM

Reeves: 6- Not sure why he came off, better option than Fosu

Pratley: 5- +1 for the goal and I’m not even joking, walking yellow card and two left feet.

Fosu: 4- Pass the ball to the player in red. You don’t have as much time on the ball as you think.

Taylor: 6- Can’t fault his effort but his touch was awful, even if he was somewhat isolated for the majority of the game.

Ajose: 3- Thats a generous 3 trust me

Grant: 6- Looked better with him on but also struggled with the massive gap left by Aribo.

Marshall: 6 - Not bad, would’ve been worth a start over a lot of those players.

Referee: 7 - Solid. Booked players for bookings, gave perhaps a couple cheap fouls for and against us but largely a good day.

Steer: 7 - Came and claimed well. Couldn't have done anything for either goal. His kicking was good and it's not his fault our attackers were completely isolated.

Dijksteel: 5.5 - Got turned inside out. He's not a RB. When we're compact and he gets cover on that side he does alright, and he can step into passing lanes. But up against quick wingers and forwards who interchange well he's always going to look exposed.

Bauer: 7.5 - Very solid from him. Perhaps could have gotten closer to Chaplin for the dink for the first but with a front two of Chaplin and Hiwula I think he'll feel that a chip to the penalty area should be handled.

Pearce: 5.5 - At fault for both goals. Poor in possession when pressured. If it were Sarr the marks would be consistently lower. But mobility is a problem for Pearce, as is his ability on the ball.

Solly: 6 - Decent if unspectacular. I kind of struggle to remember him doing much on either side of the ball. Notable that their best attacks largely came down our right.

Bielik: 7.5 - A player of pure class. Can pick a pass and breaks up play very well. Pratley could learned a thing or two from him. Should never, ever have been taken off. The result was entirely predictable.

Reeves: 7 - Looked the most likely to create in midfield. He gets it, gives it, and gets it back. Threaded through balls didn't quite come off for him today and as the game went on Coventry learned that if you're able to close him down you can stop us playing. Don't know why he came off, maybe a knock as he was stretching his calf before halftime.

Pratley: 5.5 - He's just not very good. He looks raw and inexperienced and he's 33. Being out injured after being out injured exacerbated his problems with positioning and the pace of the game, but he was brought in to be a more mobile destroyer than Kashi. I'd have Kash back in a heartbeat. Positionally, I never know what he's doing. When we have the ball in our own third or the middle third he likes to stand five yards from the player on the ball. It makes the player on the ball and him very easy to close down. When he doesn't get it he doesn't vacate the space (like Bielik or Reeves), he just keeps standing there. He actually plays his best football in the final third which is a problem for someone who is meant to be a more defensive midfielder and has played at CB. Good goal. That's about all that's good.

Fosu: 5 - They just always had a man around him and he played far too slowly. He always comes short. If he ever makes a run in behind it will literally change how teams play him. For now, he's desperately predictable.

Taylor: 6.5 - Lead the line well but an unfortunate miscontrol at a vital time. Was isolated which wasn't his fault.

Ajose: 5.5 - On a different note from Pratley and Pearce and Fosu, he was just anonymous. Definitely some of that comes down to being starved of service, it's not like Karlan came on and set the world alight.

Grant: 6 - Looked rusty and wasn't dangerous even when he got the ball in dangerous positions. He's played a lot of football this season, far more senior football than he's played in his career to this point, so it will be interesting to see how he copes over the next month or two.

Marshall: 6.5 - Looked lively. Good ball for the goal. Ultimately couldn't save us.

    Taylor: 7 keeps trying
Ajose: 2 generous to an extreme

    Ref:8.5

Steer: 6.5, very poor distribution today
Dijksteel: 5.5, got skinned, looked nervous
Bauer: 6, beat for pace a few times
    Pearce: 6, ditto Bauer
Solly: 6, not a bad game but beaten
Pratley: 5.5, fridge freezer, +1.5 for the goal
    Reeves: 5.5, weren't bad weren't decent
    Fosu: 5, poor game
    Ajose: 4, Christ
Grant: 6, not up to full fitness but still
Taylor: 6.5, always dangerous on the ball
Bielik: 7.5 (MotM) left Bielik till last, may seem like a high mark but he was the only midfielder who could hold onto the ball without panicking and he either drove it forward himself or found a pass. He should never have been taken off, how Fosu or Pratley didn't come off instead is beyond me
