Here we go, a trip to Poland.
There's 4 team changes:
Addicks boss Lee Bowyer has made four changes to the Charlton side that beat Doncaster Rovers at the weekend for Tuesday's game against Walsall with a surprise starting place for striker Lyle Taylor.
The summer signing, who has netted eight goals in his opening 16 games for the club, was substituted after 63 minutes on Saturday but will be ready for action tonight. He will be joined up front by Igor Vetokele, who starts in place of Karlan Grant.
The other two players substituted on Saturday do miss out though through injury. Naby Sarr comes in for Anfernee Dijksteel and is expected to be playing at left-back with Chris Solly moving to his right back position, while Darren Pratley will replace Ben Reeves.
Tariqe Fosu also starts with Jamie Ward dropping to the bench.
There is also a place on the bench for the first time in a league game for Toby Stevenson. The 18-year-old defender scored an incredible hat-trick on his debut for the club in the Checkatrade Trophy against Stevenage last month.
Charlton are expected to line up with Jed Steer in goal. Solly, Krystian Bielik, skipper Jason Pearce and Sarr in defence. A diamond in midfield with Josh Cullen holding, Pratley and Joe Aribo ahead of him with Fosu playing behind Vetokele and Taylor.
Full commentary of tonight’s game will be available on Valley Pass from 7.30pm.

Very strange to drop Grant if Taylor is the one with the injury. Mind games maybe ?2

Just left Birmingham. On the train with Mik Keller and Bea Vertown
Charlton away happy days

A reminder on Taylor’s fitness...0

I was also surprised Grant's not playing ..... I'd have thought an away match and a chance to run at their defence would suit his game.Bedsaddick said:Very strange to drop Grant if Taylor is the one with the injury. Mind games maybe ?
Unless the plan is to bring fresh legs on after an hour and run at their tiring defence?

Frankly rather baffled! The logical thing would be to start Grant and Igor, with Taylor on the bench in case of emergencies.1

Taylor must be fully fit. I thought Grant had a good game on Saturday so that is a surprise.0

Based him only playing an hour on Saturday and Bowyer saying he was injured.Redrobo said:

No excuses with that starting eleven. 3 points all the way0

Hopefully he's only going to be out for two weeks then and be back for Bristol Rovers
I'm shocked @ Vetokele and Taylor starting ahead of Grant tonight0 -
Sky have a commentator at our game tonight, too much to expect to see any goals0

I'm a little anxious that Naby Sarr is left back after Bowyer has said that he reckons Walsall have a decent right winger.
I guess Pratley will be tasked with giving the Nabster some protection?

Yes, I didn't like the way Bowyer talked Sarr down, that's hardly the way to boost his confidence!Oggy Red said:I'm a little anxious that Naby Sarr is left back after Bowyer has said that he reckons Walsall have a decent right winger.

Bowyer makes the weirdest tactical changes for seemingly no reason. It hasn’t worked recently so here’s hoping tonight’s different1
-
That's it Lee you run these f@cking players into the ground0
-
Bowyer did mention after Saturday they he should have freshened up the side, so I assume that is why he has made some of the changes tonight0
-
I don't believe Bowyer has made much in the way of tactical changes tonight ...... unless it's a smokescreen for 3-5-2, but IMO he'd needed to have started Marshall at Wing back/LM to do that.Laddick01 said:Bowyer makes the weirdest tactical changes for seemingly no reason. He's mostly had changes forced on him, after losing Iron Willy and Reeves to hamstring injury.ross1 said:Bowyer did mention after Saturday they he should have freshened up the side, so I assume that is why he has made some of the changes tonight
And he never was going to start Ward after playing him for 96 minutes last Saturday.
Starting Taylor is the real surprise, along with Grant dropped to the bench.
Vetokele was always going to start, I believe.

Hopefully fosu can pull something out of the bag today and it becomes his turning point of the season. He’s easily one of our best players on his day and we really need him to find his form from last season if we’re gonna push for promotion this yearross1 said:2 -
