No issue resting Broad in Sri Lanka and bringing him back for West Indies where he is more likely to take wickets

Perfect opportunity to have a look at these quicks before an Ashes year and especially as our away form (and everyone else’s) is dreadful
Anderson on the other hand is in the form of his life, is skilled enough to take wickets abroad and is very likely to retire after the Ashes so keep playing him and let’s see how many wickets he can get - I hope he gets slightly more than Kumble and makes the top 3 with the 2 best bowlers ever.1 -
Can't beleive the tour to Sri Lanka is only a month away. Surely the playets should get more rest than that. No wonder some players "retired" from touring overseas.1

That was the series where the umpiring was so bad it helped usher in DRS - if I recall correctly Jayasuriya was given out caught at slip off Caddick from a blatant bump ball and threw his bat and gloves into the stand on his way off.0 -

The umpiring was absolutely atrocious though yeah. One BC Cooray had a particular shocker. I recall Alec Stewart being given lbw to one that had pitched half a foot outside leg0 -

And with the ODI world cup AND the Ashes next year, both forms are just as important as each other, so it's not as if we can rest Root, Stokes, Buttler, Bairstow etc from the white ball stuff this winter0 -

I don't get governing bodies at times
What has stopped them.dealing with this either immediately after the initial incident or immediately after the verdict? These aren't two local league players they are two of the star players in the white ball game and one of them is a fixture for the test side
And even then, what is the punishment?0 -
It does seem silly I agree but from what I understand they couldn't do anything before legal proceedings had been completed and then they need to find a date when everyone important at the ECB
is free for long enough to attended the full tribunal whilst also giving the players enough time to prepare their defence.0 -
