CAFC staff threaten to sue Duchatelet over unpaid bonuses

Absolutely. But at no point should any money be paid to cover a shortfall in individuals wages.Davo55 said:A few people have mentioned the idea of some kind of financial support to help the Charlton staff in their fight to get what's owed to them.
Obviously, details are sketchy at this stage. We don't know the structure of the bonus scheme, the detail in the "small print", the numbers of staff affected or the amounts involved. Even when all this is known, we don't know whether the staff concerned will want to pursue a claim at an employment tribunal or any other legal route.
However, @Curb_It and I have now ring-fenced £1000 of the protest fund to be used to help with any initial legal or other related expenses that may be incurred. In the event that additional funds are required, we envisage that a separate support fund will be set up and donations sought.
The question of whether there is a sound basis for a legal challenge remains to be answered. But whatever the answer to this, there can surely be no doubt that Charlton are under a moral obligation to pay these staff what's due. I am sure that many fans, whether boycotting or not, will get behind any action that is proposed to get a successful and just outcome for the Charlton staff.
As you rightly said it should be used in the fight to get Duchatelet to pay exactly what he owes them.6 -
Absolutely support this, not only because it feels the "right" thing to do, but also because - like CARD's gesture with the water bottles - it shows the fans are supporting the team, both those on the field and those working hard in difficult circumstances in the background.Davo55 said:A few people have mentioned the idea of some kind of financial support to help the Charlton staff in their fight to get what's owed to them.

Our beef is with this calamitous regime, not with those working against the odds for the benefit of the club, and anything which demonstrates this gets my support.9 -
Not sure I agree with this. I'm all for setting up a fund to help out (although might that not possibly dissuade these guys from taking the action mentioned?) And I will contribute, but I'm not sure I donated to the protest fund for anything other than protest support. Happy to discuss.0

I see this as another form of protest; "there are more ways of killing a cat than choking it with cream!"5
-
Of course! And the publicity could be good. I guess I was reading this as perhaps helping compensate the affected club employees, but having re-read, I see the grand is to help with any possible legal case. I'm more comfortable with that.2
-
by staff do you include Burger Boy ?? why help that turd1
-
Would probably be a class action, so unavoidable, I'm sad to say.
Edit: although if your description fits, @Goonerhater , whose to say the toady isn't one who is an exception to the rule & has been rewarded? We'll probably never know!0 -
@JamesSeed I presume GM is being kept informed of this, I mean taking over a club with additionally dented goodwill amoungst the staff must taint the value of the club as much as losing a player0
-
Yes @church-lane, we’re not talking about an aid fund here. We’re talking about helping staff mount a challenge to unfair treatment from the club. That will keep the pressure on Duchatelet through prolonged exposure to media questioning.church-lane said:Of course! And the publicity could be good. In my opinion by the time the FF meet tomorrow night this will all be sorted.1

I hope so Large. But in less than 48 hours this latest Duchatelet debacle will have generated press, radio and television coverage in the U.K. and press coverage in Belgium. And the bond between staff and fans will have been reinforced, against the ownership, through our strong support for them.LargeAddick said:In my opinion by the time the FF meet tomorrow night this will all be sorted.
No doubt it’s a Duchatelet own goal but it’s a great feeling to help slam the ball into the net

I agree and if it doesn’t get sorted I’m happy for the protest fund to help out with legal aid if necessaryDavo55 said:

Were they to take the club over there are several quick fixes that spring to mind.1 -
No doubt that tosser Rubbershoes is on the PR case. Odious little c**t.3

DNC are losing money on the CAFC contract, I believe this is their final contracted year at the club, I doubt very much they will renew under the present contracted terms.N01R4M said:I'm sure if Delaware North find they are running at a loss, they will soon give Roland earache!
It also would not surprise me if the contract gave RD a % of the profits.
Re the bonus scheme, if the figures quoted are correct at approximately £2,500 per employee @ 10% of their wages, then the actions of the club are utterly disgraceful, has anyone had an answer as to why this is happening from the senior member of the management team, whom I assume is the COO?0 -
It is an issue for any prospective purchaser, as it won’t go away with Roland. They would be on the hook for any unpaid bonus.0

To be fair, Rubbershoes is an okay guy, he was in the Valley Cafe same time as me this afternoon and he was very polite and courteous to an old Peterboro fan who was giving him shit about not getting a bonus(without knowing who he was (he was wearing tie and blazer badge combo) or that he was probably typing up Roland’s bullshit reply on his phone whilst eating his greasy lunch)mistrollingin said:No doubt that tosser Rubbershoes is on the PR case. If he's an "okay guy" he should fuck right off and work for someone reputable, not a prick like twoshits.Fumbluff said:

Now we know why bonuses were not paid.
To piss us off Roland paid the ref to fuck us up and used the bonus money1 -
I think it would be a terrible shame to repeat book the hotel and then cancel only to leave a review of the hotel on tripadvisor which, incidentally, seems to be back to accepting reviews on the hotel... own up who put the one about a view of a decrepit old man dancing up!Covered End said:3 -
Won’t just be those who went to the police to target supporters, I assume it will also potentially include those who were willingly were monitoring here, tracking posts, cutting and pasting posts in order to collate and provide (attempted) evidence, targeted filming of individuals during protests, stuck up police warnings on big screens at key moments, publicly defended regime and lambasted supporters, tried to force supporters into signing behavioural contracts, pumped up music in the car park to try and dilute protests, spinning cutbacks as environmental conscience etc.Goonerhater said:by staff do you include Burger Boy ?? why help that turd
Be very clear on who and what you are supporting would be my view

His standards are slipping, he's usually in Sainsburys cafe. I've spent a couple of hours in his company. While not a bad person he is a company man and that means Rolands man.Fumbluff said:

It's the loss of that promised bonus thats kicking in all over the place. Wont be long before he's eating his lunch, homemade cheese sandwiches on a bench in Maryon Wilson Park in the rain. I cant wait for Cajones turning up for work on a push bike.Baldybonce said:

I've thought about the "goodwill" element throughout this whole saga and think that in this specific industry, it is one of the most important aspects of buying a club but, personally have not heard it talked about muchJon_CAFC_ said:@JamesSeed I presume GM is being kept informed of this, I mean taking over a club with additionally dented goodwill amoungst the staff must taint the value of the club as much as losing a player

The Aussies? Are they still a thing?1

Probably not heard about because Roland doesn’t do intangibles without a price tag and is exactly why he failed - saw the offer of support from fans as an attack and as if we were telling him what to do and fatially for any business alienated the hard working staff who out of loyalty for the club and wanting to do their job to the best of their ability have been taken advantage of and screwed overi_b_b_o_r_g said:

There’s no coming back from that

Excuse doeant wash with Rubbershoe I'm afraid. He had a period at the club as a contractor working for Pitch PR. He had time at the club to see what it would be like. In that time he was involved in spinning stories to portray the fans badly and protect Katriens image. In my mind that is fair warning of what the club is like. He didn't have to come on board permanently. He chose to. Since then he has been involved in attacking fans and more lies/spin. All by choice.Fumbluff said:
