Retiring squad numbers is just ridiculous in my opinion

Good job you’re not in charge at Wolves then.

The numbers are never permanently retired are they though, they’re always back the season after though aren’t they?

Not always, look at the above link some are permanently retired.

I do love AC Millans 1, number 3 has been retired but can be worn if one of Maldini's sons plays for them

This has actually really aggravated me. I clicked into another thread to forget about it, but it keeps grating me.
  • Sussex CCC retired the no 19 shirt after Matthew Hobden, who died aged 22 due to ‘unexplained reasons’ in Scotland on New Year’s Day 2016. The players drink a beer by a tree planted in his memory when they win a County. Championship game.

I actually like it as a mark of respect, but as a hockey fan it’s quite common as there’s 99 numbers to choose from, in football it’s different so I can understand the trepidation.

That was so tragic. Guy fell asleep on the roof of a holiday home whilst looking up at the stars whilst with his family and at some point fell from the roof to his death. Was meant to be an incredibly promising cricketer as well.
