The striker, who returned to Sparrows Lane in June after two years out on loan, has an acute tear in the plantar fascia on the underside of his left foot.

Head of Medical Services Alastair Thrush explained: “This is an injury that was confirmed with an ultra sound scan yesterday. It happened during the game against Welling. The injury is going to require a period of immobilisation in a boot to start with for a few weeks followed by a graduated loading programme. We anticipate that we’ll see Igor back in training again in about eight weeks’ time.

We have a squad of about 17 players with 1st team experience.

    3 injured
    2 injury prone

    Season starts in 3 weeks

Edit: just looked at the last updated squad list and not including RHF as he only played 5 league games its 18 1st team players.

    FFS.

First 45 mins he's played for us for 2 years and now he's out for 2 months.

You can't blame a player for an injury, but you can blame a club for buying injury-prone players for a paper-thin squad.

What's this, club medical services provided by Goodfellas (not the frozen pizza ones)?

Yes, it was conspicuous. He limped for a while but did complete the full 45 minutes. The curse of Charlton strikes again.

  • Didn' Kashi get this during his comeback?

Igor is a big old boy who probably needs a good pre season under his belt to get the best out of him. He’s going to be needing to start his build up in about ten weeks from now and probably twelve weeks away from even thinking about playing. Players who start so far adrift rarely catch up and have a good season.

Probably nailed on if the takeover doesn't happen.

    Wow.

Seeing Igor tear up L1 was one of the few things I had used to delude myself into getting excited for the forthcoming season!

Squad even more of a shambles. Quite conceivable one or two more will be injured come the start of the season.

Unreal, was looking forward to seeing Igor up top with Taylor. Means we won’t see that until the end of September.

Having two plantar fascia injuries so close to one another is odd. You have got to look at the footwear these players are wearing and where the forces are being transmitted to, these injuries shouldn’t happen.

Kinda need to replace all the others that have already gone first

Else Bowyer's comments saying that Morgan | Maloney | Lapslie wont be in the squad for Sunderland will be false

Often with this type of injury it can be down to the surface you play on. I am convinced 4G pitches are terrible for injuries.

Do Welling have a 4G pitch now?

This is why it’s impossible to get up for anything related to Charlton. What’s the point in even trying when it’s just continuous shit news.

When would the players have played on a 4G or even 3G pitch? Surface is of course a big factor but footwear is the main contributor. Too often players are wearing the wrong type of trainers/boots for the their feet.
