My main concern about Belgium winning the World Cup is that Roland might get his enthusiasm back and decide the keep us!!!!

Enjoyed that game. Courtois, Kompany, and Lukaku immense - and honest -performances.

Belgium announced themselves as proper contenders there. Their much mocked manager did a tactical job on Brazil and his group of supposed talented individuals that can't play as a team set aside their egos to execute his tactical plan.

They fully deserve to be where they are, and France will be worried having seen that. To me, Belgium look the best team left in the tournament.
That mocked manager has an assistant … Thierry Henry . Not mentioned enough imo ...
I never knew that. I was watching in Bulgaria and wondering why the TV was focusing on him.

You can be very proud of your team tonight.

That would be a disaster. Luckily, he doesn't like football.

    Did you watch the game?
    Eden Hazard owned it!

Cracking game. Best so far by miles. End to end stuff, loads of shots. Statistically Brazil were all over Belgium but stats don't actually mean anything in football, apart from one, goals. Belgium deserved their victory but France will be a tougher nut to crack.

This only backs up how wasteful Brazil really were.

2.5 expected goals and only one scored. Meanwhile a clinical Belgium get two goals from 0.5 expected.

    Hazard had really stepped up.

Always feel he keeps a lot in his locker and rarely performs to his full, potential

Thought Brazil were the better team, but didn't take their chances. That is ultimately what football is all about! Belgium are strong though and now have a real chance. All the other teams with aspirations to win the thing, should be delighted with yesterday's result however.

Backs up my view of the game. Brazil by far the better football team. Fluky own goal, stonewall penalty denied and a host of missed chances. Some lovely direct running with the ball and tackling football played by Brazil. Brazil very unlucky to lose. So far not seen a better side than Brazil. It is a shame they have gone out of the competition so early.

The anti football sentiments that regularly get spouted out on this forum never ceases to amaze me. Brazil are shit. Spain are shit. Renaldo is shit. Messi is shit. Neymar is shit. Barcelona is shit. Real Madrid is shit. Premiership is shit. Champions League is shit.

Luckily Welling are still going so we all have the opportunity to enjoy proper football when it all gets too much!

For me Brazil were the strongest team in the tournament, but they are out of the tournament. Any team can win or lose now. That includes England. I think we have found the right manager though - probably more by luck than judgement. You can't put a price on that.

No more headless chickens - Southgate is clearly very intelligent. He has worked out how England can win the world cup and that should have been the starting point for previous managers! That doesn't mean they will, but he has looked where goals come from, how odds can be improved in penalty shootouts and he has a clever system. It is very solid and hard to beat.

If England get through tomorrow then Spurs are fucked for the first few weeks of the season.

Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Dembele, Kane, Trippier, Rose, Dier and Alli will all likely have had no pre season. Got to be given at least 3-4 weeks holiday after this world cup. Plus Son will be away at the Asian games.

You missed Lloris off that list too.

They had 2-3 week holidays before the WC and they'll get 2 weeks after according to Poch.

Can still put out a starting XI and bench for full internationals without them anyway. Llorente, Moura, Eriksen, Lamela all fit and raring to go up top after having the summer off with a full pre-season in them.

Dembele, Dier and Rose have hardly played. Eriksen and Davidson Sanchez going to be back. Not ar all concerned. It is what it is!
  • Belgium are very good side. If you don't take your chances against a very good side you will lose. That's what happened to Brazil.

The second half of this post is so pompous. And I think you’ve imagined that bit in bold.
I think a lot of people, for whatever reason, dislike something about Barça, Real Madrid, Brazil, Messi, Ronaldo etc, but I really don’t think anyone has said they’re “shit”.
They’re patently not shit and we all know it.
But Ronaldo is an arrogant peacock, while Neymar does roll around like a bellend and the imbalance of money in the Premier League compared to the Football league is obscene and people do go overboard about Brazil.
Saying these things is not anti-football, far from it. I think those who express these views are often very pro-football, but regardless - we all have a right to dislike whichever teams or players we want, just as we have the right to support who we want.
You’re welcome to be disappointed that Brazil lost, but you don’t have to look down your nose at everyone else as if you’re the only football purist on the planet and everyone else is a heathen.
Yeah, they were unlucky to lose, but so what? I’m glad they lost. Football will survive and nobody is going to look back on this World Cup and say “Oh, but wasn’t it a shame Brazil didn’t progress further than the quarters?” Nobody will care apart from Brazilians (fair enough) and Brazil fanboys. They we’re good, but they weren’t that good!
The remaining teams are good teams who’ve earned their place, maybe with some fortune maybe not, but stop whining and give all the rest of the teams some respect. Brazil are out. Get over it.

Russia would be easier to beat but there's just that nagging feeling that if they get past Spain and Croatia, they're being set up to go all the way somehow!
  • Because I think that they will be more corrupt than fifa and we would get screwed by putin
