The Takeover Thread - Duchatelet Finally Sells (Jan 2020)

  • What I can't comprehend is why did the EFL undertake the fit and proper person test if the selling price had not been agreed?

Surely the price had been agreed and to use the moving house analogy, binding contracts had been exchanged? The only way to avoid completion is if the buyer fails to produce the money.

It can't be because of gazumping. The only possible thing is if this so called other bid was also at the EFL for approval. I don't buy this as someone ie @Addickted would have heard.

    Hence my confusion.

There can be no other reason that I can see either yet I am sure there will be numerous reasons that come out in the next few days

As airman said, they’re in face to face discussions now and working hard to get it done. He’s in London, I have s feeling today will be interesting

This so called ‘British consortium’, which I believe only Murray has spoke of. He first mentioned this, what four months ago.

Is Murray a central part of this consortium? Is that why so little has leaked out about, if it does exist?

    It doesn't exist, that's why.

    It's a seller's trick.

Remember the disinformation, the deliberate leaks to find leakers.

WIOTOS, that is the bottom line. Everything else is gossip.
I keep telling you the 'British Consortium' is me.

I made an official bid to RD to purchase the Club back in September and upped my offer two weeks later as I had no response to my official bid.

I have a draft contract drawn up, I do not wish to progress further with any DD, my credentials are sound enough to pass the EFL fit and proper test and as a gesture of goodwill I even volunteered a holding deposit of £100 sterling for a period of exclusivity rights.

@nth london addick has agreed to be my fans board representative and I will hire @Goonerhater on a short term contract to carry out a review all employees for my change management plans.
I am in where do I sign

In my opinion today is deadline day.
If nothing happens today I honestly believe Roland will be here for the start of the season.
I expect him to appoint temporary people as CEO and CFO etc and the longest sale of a football club in history continues.

Problem is, I don’t really believe anything Murray says. Or Duchatelet. And even the Aussies seem to have been giving us just half the story (the rosy picture).

Wouldn’t it be nice if the people involved actually gave a complete and joined up statement.

Are they allowed to. NDAs preventing that I feel.
Sorry Jim, but I don’t buy that.

They are ok to feed you and press snippets suggesting all is fine and dandy but it’s now very clear that they hadn’t got all their ducks in a row to complete the takeover - yet.
Remember they've been in negoatations for anything up to two years, and not a squeak came out. Possibly they were getting fed up, and thinking they were very near the end, like a few days away, they were happy for a little info to leak. I'm told that Nas are quite common in takeovers.

I was told CAFC had lodged some papers with the EFL at the beginning of May (quite clear it was CAFC rather than a third party). Spoke to @Airman Brown at Rochdale and he said his contacts at EFL were not aware of this.

The next I was told was that the EFL were working on the fit and proper person test on the proposed buyer - they made no reference to who this was (as I suspect they didn't know as it was coming second hand from inside the EFL).

I have had two texts this month - one saying there was a problem with 'up to two' members of the bidding consortium - again, no mention of Australians - and it had been passed back to them to resolve.

I then heard this week that the issues had been resolved and there were no further issues as far as the EFL were concerned.

Then the shit hit the fan on Wednesday.

'Richard wants to reassure us that the club is not a total lame duck'. WTF??? Just a bit of a lame duck then. Oh do fuck off.

Could not agree more, every page I read on this thread now, I get more depressed
  • The way I see it, the Aussies are stalling for whatever reason. RD is trying to hurry them up with player sales, a mythical 'British consortium' and appointing Bowyer. Have a feeling it will either be done or be off by 5PM today.

    Good. Let it be.
Either take a shit or get off the dunny Bruce.

    This 100%

Which ever analogy is used, Duchatelet is poison and every part of CAFC is poorly, including fans, staff, the new buyers who are finding dealing with the Douchebag a unique and bizarre experience.

Roland's venom runs through every atom of OUR club and our recovery could be slow, but let's hope not terminal.

It comes back to Duchatelet. He is asking far too much for a debt, the size of which is very largely of his own making. This due to some very poor football, player & business decisions relating to Charlton. Not that the miserable fecker will ever acknowledge that.

My concern is that Duchatelet not finding any takers will attempt to get his money back by any means necessary including sale of the Valley, which he will need to empty of supporters by underfunding the team & driving it further down the league.

I agree with your first paragraph. The pathetic excuse for a football club owner has dug a massive hole he doesn’t know how to get out of in terms of running the club, now wants someone to pay to clean up his mess. Laughable really. I’ve found NLA’s posts on the Aussies to be quite useful as I think he’s given us a window into the extent of how stretched their bid and consortium is, and the fact that their was another bid wouldn’t have helped them. But RD, is being typical rd, belligerent and exercising his power.

Unfortunately every single one of us pens each post on here with deep emotion and love for the club. For RD this is simply a transaction in his business world.

Stinks of Duchatelet being petty & a twat.

Can imagine he issued a deadline that was unreasonable with all these potential people on board and the EFL side of things would take longer as a result BUT in his mind that his deadline and he will stick to it, regardless of reality so when it didnt happen, he sanctioned the sale of Konsa to cover his "costs".

Muir has prob got the hump and told RD that he should take that fee off the final price and sod off now we are a stand-off again.

The man is a walking cancer that has ravaged the club and made it rotten. Keep the faith though, it will happen and we can have a big fucking party when it does, first home game of the season.

Fuck this, I’m off to the butchers to buy bacon and white pudding for breakfast.

Have no idea what this deal amitri song is that NLA keeps referring to. Am hoping I don’t hear about it ever again.

Oh and Richard Murray, don’t bother showing your face at Charlton again

What I really don’t get and I know it has been said many times before. Is how did we get from Muir marching around the valley scarfed up and acting as though his ownership was a formality, to this .........?

It’s scarfie I feel for in all this. Paraded around, given her moment in the spotlight again, and then discarded like a worthless piece of trash without a second thought for her feelings. It’s no way to treat a loyal club servant.

I've no idea what the price agreed might be or what any delays might have been for. I don't know the structure of the deal. Or who other parties might be. I don't know what's happening at The Valley or the training ground. And I don't know where Muir or RD are. So don't take anything on this post as "ITK".

But I'm having a guess at what one tiny piece of hold up might be.

Charlton have sold Konsa. The fee hasn't been disclosed. Its likely that the sale price agreed also includes an element whereby any player sale revenue is deducted from the selling price.

Let's say the fee was £4m. That could represent about 10 per cent of the sale price, so is pretty significant.

But it's very unlikely that a Championship club would pay the whole fee up front. (Premier League clubs would be more likely to pay £4m up front, but even then would probably spread the total over a number of years).

So there may be a disagreement as to whether the sale price should be reduced by the whole fee (say £4m) or just the initial payment (maybe £1m).

All these figures are guesses. But the point remains that there could be a disagreement between the seller's sale of the club and the buyer's valuation if a diminished asset.

Doctor kish saying about Igor next season being loaned out again to cut wages. Don’t understand this because his at his own club in Belgium so his still paying his wages.you think Charlton would be able to afford the wages more than a small club in Belgium.he must think there need is bigger than ours.

They won't be covering all of his wages.

Miserable old track ain’t it. I put a scratch in. Y copy so it never got to the end and the needle never went back, never went back, never went back.

Broke it into pieces fairly quick.
