Try it - it is delicious. It is like a spam sandwich only much, much tastier and that reminds me - spam fritters are quite nice!
You can get Mortadella in Tescos and Asda -it really is delicious - you can get foccacia's there too, but ideally a focccia should be a bit drier/harder than the ones they sell. Mortadella in french bread is nice too! No butter!!!

Joe Wicks Chicken Pie is decent winter comfort food

Hold tight for Joe's Chicken Pie

If you love chicken pie, this recipe won't disappoint and it's easily one of the most popular recipes from my new book Lean In 15. It's actually Lean in about 60 minutes, but is such a nice treat that you won't mind the extra effort.

    INGREDIENTS (Serves 4)

    2 large knobs of butter

1 large leek, washed and chopped into 2cm pieces

    200g mushrooms, roughly chopped

4 x 250g chicken breast fillets, cut into bite-sized pieces

    250ml chicken stock

    1 tbsp cornflour

    100ml double cream

2 large handfuls of baby spinach leaves

about 6 sheets of filo pastry

    drizzle of olive oil

    salad or veg, to serve

Can’t have comfort food without mash potato

Mine would be quality bangers, mash potato, baked beans, onion gravy and brown sauce

    Wallop

This all day long. Proper comfort food for a cold evening.

Good shout. After 5 or 6 cans you can just go to sleep and not have to worry about comfort food.

I remember West Brom away in 2000, couldn’t get in any pubs near the ground so invested in a “few” cans of Skol Super. I don’t remember much about the game apart from trying to encourage both sets of fans invade the pitch after about 20 mins. @Clem_Snide will remember.

The gravy would contaminate the beans.
This combo should never appear on the same plate.
As for brown sauce anywhere near beans....

If I have a meat pie with beans on the same plate, an indefensible mash barrier needs to be firmly put in place.

I have yet to sample that sensation, but I guess it would get you a seat on the train home.

Minced beef and onion with peas and creamy mash. White pepper and vinegar on it. Then, the coup de grace, thick slice of buttered bread with which to make a sandwich from the mince mash peas combo. Sweet!
