Would still sack him for Chris Powell under new owners.18

Fair enough, I personally wouldn't yet. I'd give Robbo the season to earn us promotion as the constant changing has just caused us problems.
Also Powell will still be available should Robbo get the boot.9 -
So this plan (like all his others) went well for him then..... newsshopper.co.uk/sport/14383648.Former_Charlton_Athletic_boss_still_lives_in_London_and_wants_another_job_in_England/killerandflash said:Luzon is currently Maccabi Haifa manager at the moment, so hasn't done badly for himself since leaving us

No thank you, Karl has completely changed the way we play. Far more enjoyable to watch and a lot more skill on show. The exact opposite to what Powell had us playing.

Looking at ex-managers over the last decade:killerandflash said:Luzon is currently Maccabi Haifa manager at the moment, so hasn't done badly for himself since leaving us
- Pardew....nowhere
- Parkinson....Bolton where he's had success and Bradford City before that (also a successful spell)
- Powell....nowhere
- Riga....Cercle Brugge in Belgium. Reasonable spells with Standard Liege and Metz as well between his 2 spells with us
- Peeters....nowhere
- Luzon....Maccabi Haifa after a disastrous spell at Hapoel Tel Aviv (they were relegated)
- Fraeye....nowhere
- Slade....Grimsby Town after Coventry City and neither a success (to date)
Summary - 50% are out of the game.
You have to sat that although Powell did the business for us in 2012 he hasn't set the world alight subsequently. Bit like Curbishley in many ways after leaving the Valley. Riga stands out as the best manager imported by Duchatelet and Parkinson as easily the best we had pre-Powell.
For my money Robinson is about a good as we could get at this stage. His form at MK Dons 2 x play-offs and a promotion from League One speaks for itself.6 -
Let's hope he can take us up as well.simonmatthews said:

I hope some of the doom and gloomsters on here give him a chance.
More importantly get behind the team - there is much more of a feelgood factor this season.
Long may that continue

Slightly unfair on Pardew, who's been managing pretty much continually since and before he left us, mainly in the PL...simonmatthews said:

Good to hear more positive comments about Robinson. Credit that's been long overdue if we're honest.2

Powell's football got us promoted and into the top half of the Championship, hopefully Robinson will too but he hasn't achieved anything yet.000__Jaaaaay__000 said:Nug said:Would still sack him for Chris Powell under new owners.

I don't agree with the post you replied to either, under new owners Robinson would deserve a chance.3 -

For me a lot of credit must go to KR. I reckon he's busted his balls over the summer and actually since he's been here. I enjoy watching him during games, I like his passion and I want him to succeed here now5
-
Wouldn't change manager now. Robinson has built his team and so far it's working. Let's see how far he can take us.1
-
The above is a little unfair on Luzon re. his time at Hapoel TA. They were in a huge financial crisis and had a large points deduction in mid-season under Israel's equivalent to FFP rules, relating to debts built up before his time. He probably knew he was walking into trouble, though, because the previous head coach agreed to being booted upstairs and then paid Luzon's wages out of his own pocket.simonmatthews said:

He likes wingers, overlapping full backs and a bustling centre forward, for me good old fashioned lower league football, it is winning us games and a team to enjoy watching, good on yer Karl if he gets us up he will I hope finally quieten the Powellites and Kermites on here - as good as they were, and I loved that promotion winning season, move on.1

He gets a lot of stick but fair play to KR yesterday. Most thought that Anfernee would come in, (including himself) but KR got it spot on yesterday. Well done.3

yes, he picked a winning team and that is his job but regardless well done him.Redhenry said:He gets a lot of stick but fair play to KR yesterday. Most thought that Anfernee would come in, (including himself) but KR got it spot on yesterday. Well done.
He also bought Fosu and him when a few fans were digging him out after Bury (don't know why as I though he was our best player in a poor performance) and even saying his finish at Walsall was poor as he put it through the keepers legs.
Watch his third goal v Fleetwood and he doesn't exactly the same thing. Two good strikers goals2 -
KR is the best possible manager we can have and get at this present moment. No doubt about it. The reasons and the goals we have conceded are not tactical mistakes. Walsall for example no manager plans to score a winner in the 87th and then concede in the 88th. He is a very clever guy tactically we don't want to be in L1 he can get us out which he has proved previously!!!1

I'll have whatever you're on.1

well who else could we get that would do a better job than Robinson then? We have improved drastically under him, he's signed good players to fit the system and it getting the best out of someone like Sarr who was wrote off by all.bolloxbolder said:I'll have whatever you're on.

Don't agree that is is the best possible manager. I would suggest the Paul Hurst is doing a better job right now with fewer resources. 5th is good but not exactly great and we've won one in five.tommy12317 said:KR is the best possible manager we can have and get at this present moment. I think his tactics are fine when we're on top but not so much when we are struggling and things need to change. When teams press up we struggle and it was interesting that Fleetwood didn't do that and we beat them.
He has assembled a good, if "very, very small" squad and has the players playing for him which is to his credit. The points total is just under the two per game needed for promotion so no need to panic and we're well set to aim for the top two despite the five point gap already.
He did get MK Dons promoted before that is true but after quite a few failed attempts and he was then relegated immediately and then sacked when in the bottom half of the table.

I agree with a lot of this. I don't think he got a lot to spend over the summer though, we brought in Amos, Dasilva, Fosu, Reeves, Clarke, Marshall and Dodoo.Henry Irving said:

Of the 7, 3 are on loan and 2 were free. The two purchases in Fosu and Clarke look good signings. There's no doubt Robinson can spot a decent League 1 player.
Dodoo was the only dud and was no doubt a panic signing. I don't blame him for that at all, even though he does look to run his mouth a little and tried to convince us we would be impressed by him.
Powell was probably going to get us relegated and I am panicking about whether or not he could keep us in the Championship just yet as we need to get there first.2 -

The question is- could you (the fans) do a better job2
