I would usually agree - but not in this comparisonLeuth said:
I don't disagree this is a no-contest in her favour! But we're allowed to discuss both actsbobmunro said:
That's as maybe - but neither have any place in a music discussion when comparing to the beautiful, supremely talented, gorgeous, irresistible Joni. I love that woman.Leuth said:Nick McCabe >>>>>>>>>>>>> Richard Ashcroft

Urban Hymns for me. Saw them perform it at Brixton Academy for a charity gig. Had loved it before that, but it was one of the best gigs I have seen and seals it for me.0

I first saw Joni at the Isle of Wight in 1970 - granted there were a few other decent groups there!!TelMc32 said:Urban Hymns for me. Saw them perform it at Brixton Academy for a charity gig. Had loved it before that, but it was one of the best gigs I have seen and seals it for me.
As a 13 year old then I fell in love with her - and that love affair has never ended.
That seals it for me1 -

Never really got on with Joni Mitchell's voice, shame, maybe I will one day. I grew up listening to Urban Hymns, so it wins.0

You lucky fella. I was desperate to go to the I of W festival in 1970. No chance. I was 13 too.bobmunro said:

Blue.
Perhaps a closer more relevant match up would be with 'Cold Fact' by Rodriguez.
Blue would still win.
Will never age on me...

I find The Verve (or is it just Verve?) really, really, really annoying so there's no contest as far as I'm concerned. When do we get to vote?0

My mum let me go with some neighbours of ours who were then in their late 20s/early 30s. It was an amazing experience for a 13 year old but if I'm honest I didn't quite appreciate it all at that age. It's only afterwards (and still) that I pinch myself that I've actually seen Hendrix and The Doors live (albeit from a fair distance!!), the former just weeks before he died.JamesSeed said:

Urban Hymns is a great album and I really enjoy it.
But Blue must win, Joni's voice is superb on this album, full of great songs.0 -
