Pathetic dismissal for Bairstow, what the hell is being said in the England dressing room0
-
New quota system dictates 4 non white players, in this case, Amla,Bavuma,Philander,Maharaj, then there is Duminy and Rabada in the wingsgolfaddick said:
They have to play a certain number of black players (I think its at least 2, maybe even 3)killerandflash said:

No idea why Morris didn't play in the first test, I thought he looked promising in the CT0 -
This whole test match sounds like a pretty woeful capitulation by England to me.0
-
I know I shouldn't be saying this after 2 tests, but I do have my thoughts that Root has been thrown into captaincy too early
Well, I was right with that one.The_President said:
yep, can see them ripping through and getting 4 down in first session.blackpool72 said:I hope I'm wrong but I think this test will finish tomorrow.

7 down now.
Pathetic!0 -
yeah it's only 2 tests, he needs a chance to prove himself, although use of reviews particularly has been poor.The_President said:I know I shouldn't be saying this after 2 tests, but I do have my thoughts that Root has been thrown into captaincy too early

I think it would work if we had some experience around him, but Cook doesn't seem as though he has been particularly helpful, nor Anderson or Broad.0 -
brains? were Broad's Where - please rearrange.0

9 down, and it's not even 3pm0
-
All out. We lose by a mere 340 runs.0

Out twice in under 100 overs, horrible.0

It honestly looked like we were giving catching practice for the last 3. If Pakistan had done that .....
Jennings, Ballance & Dawson need to be dropped without doubt, they are not good enough.
Hamed, Rashid plus another batsman.3 -
Terrible! Not really sure where we go from here. Some change is obviously needed but with no 4 day cricket now for a few weeks there is little chance for those outside the current squad to keep in the groove.0
-
It's the way we lost that's got everyone fuming. 2 days to survive, and we barely lasted half a day
1 -
cannot disagree more, why do we need 4 seamers and 2 spinners.Covered End said:It honestly looked like we were giving catching practice for the last 3. If Pakistan had done that .....

It has got nothing to do with Root being installed as Captain. We have lost, I think, seven tests out of the last ten. We throw our wickets away too easily. We need more grit and stick ability. That was a pathetic capitulation. Let us not try to dress it up. It is all very well to say that we are playing a more positive brand of cricket but it is not working in Tests. Perhaps the Management need to be changed.2

Just as i predicted.blackpool72 said:I hope I'm wrong but I think this test will finish tomorrow.
For once I wish I had been wrong.0 -
Exactly.killerandflash said:It's the way we lost that's got everyone fuming. 2 days to survive, and we barely lasted half a day
The pundits all said batting conditions today were good. We should have been capable of batting the day out at least even if we were to lose eventually tomorrow.1 -
Woakes is badly missed and seven left handed batsmen did not help .1
-
Absolutely dream conditions for batting today! Terrible collapse.LenGlover said:

Complete shambles.
We don't seem to have any batsmen who show any level of consistency,,other than to constantly collapse.Root.being the exception.0 -
I fall asleep on the sofa after an early start to catch a flight, at the time we were 4 down. I wake up and I'm getting g post match analysis! What happened?0

gutless, feckless, witless, utterly shameful dereliction of duty by just about all of them with bat in hand. Two or three across 2 innings got wicket taking balls, the rest of it was absent technique (Jennings, Ballance) and selfish fuckwittery. Bar Jimmy, they all ought to be made to publicly explain their transgressions, any insulting crap about "it's the way I play, I went out to play my natural game" to be dealt with by a week in the pillory wearing signs over their groins marked "Kick Me" and refunds payable to all who attended this calumny out of the players' fees. wasters6

Oh great you're a cricket fan now5
-
We need a few that sell their wickets dearly.0
-
England don't really have the obdurate, bloody-minded type of players who can bat for two days to save a test. They get all itchy and nervous if they're not scoring. It's like T20 has turned them into ADHD patients.2
-
You're being far too soft on these pitiful embarrassments to their country. I'd force each of them to cough up a first born child to act as a guarantor of future performances. Perhaps we can also organise a GOT style shame march between Trent Bridge and Lords.StigThundercock said:gutless, feckless, witless, utterly shameful dereliction of duty by just about all of them with bat in hand. Stoneman fits that bill. I think you'll find that one of Jennings or Ballance will remain in the team - more likely Ballance because of the Yorkie connection, and that Stoneman will come in to open with Cook. The next Test is at The Oval (i think) , so it will be Stonemans home ground. Out will go Dawson too.dickplumb said:We need a few that sell their wickets dearly.

That might make the decision a bit easier...
Gary Ballance is having an x-ray on his left index finger later this evening.0 -
Hopefully they get their act together for the Oval... I'm going on the Friday0
