How is the Jimmy Seed stand becoming unsafe exactly? If it was in any way an unsafe or unsound structure then no away supporters would be allowed in. It sounds like a pretext to move away supporters, so that they can sell / redevelop part of the ground for housing. Duchatelet wants his money back & will turn Charlton into the new Orient to do so. Their plan has got to be stopped.

I read somewhere recently that the council have concerns and ask repeatedly in safety conversations about the clubs plans to address the asbestos in the roof, iirc the club are taking a wait and see approach but concerns were noted about damage being caused by trees in the vicinity.

Sounds plausible to me that the closing of blocks in east west followed by moving of away fans is a softening up of then closing jimmy seed stand on safety grounds/cost to fix before some form of redevelopment
There is a statutory forum led by the council for reporting and addressing safety issues and any such concerns would need to disclosed there or they effectively do not exist.

Equally the club would need, does not have, and is extremely unlikely ever to get, police approval through that committee to use the east stand as the main accommodation for away supporters.

Difficult to see how the trees on the development behind, which are not the club's responsibility, could be interfering with the roof of the JS stand.

The best way to deal with asbestos is to leave well alone.

As long as it's intact and not likely to get disturbed.

The bad news is that i think they are going to have one more go at getting it right.
Robinson will be backed by Roland this summer in a final attempt at promotion.

The good news is that Robinson is totally inept and will fail. This will result in him getting sacked around Christmas, proving that Roland 's experiment has failed and he will then sell the club.
The end of the regime is coming i am sure of that

And if Robinson is backed by RD in the summer and and gets the team challenging for promotion by Christmas - will that change your opinion of Robinson?

We all want to see a winning team regardless who is the manager, but the clowns have had so many chances to get it right and have failed everytime.

Why would anyone believe that they will get it right this summer.

Agreed, although it would have to be in a really terrible state for removal to be a better choice than sealing it.

The good news if it is asbestos that is the problem is that a specialist company would remove and replace. The bad news would be if the structure it's self were unsafe.

It was built in the 80's and is the only stand with supporting pillars so could be on its way out.

As Rolly plans to get us up to the premier, surely he will be wanting to develop the East and Jimmy Seed stand as previously planned? I am convinced a visionary such as he will have the plans for a 40000 seater nailed to his shed walls.

Anyone remember the fan who was told he couldn't have his season ticket as he posted nasty things about the club on social media?

    This is that same fella.

    Unreal.

No way , no way , no one is that batshit crazy
I am sure that it is a mixture of being batshit crazy, absolutely fickle and attention seeking.

if in this league he cant manage to still be in a promotion challenging position by Christmas my opinion of him would be even worse than it is now. and right now I think he's a clueless mouthy chancer.

Looking forward to the new dugouts. I'm guessing they'll use the same phasing techniques as for the Training Ground. So I'm expecting a schedule a little like this:

Phase 1 Completed Summer 2017: Remove roofs from old dugouts. All coaching staff, medical staff and substitutes contract pneumonia during 2017/8 season sitting in the rain. Charlton relegated to League Two.

Phase 2 Completed Summer 2018: Overcome problem of staff sitting in the rain by removing seats. All coaching staff, medical staff and substitutes suffer from chronic venous hypertension. Charlton relegated to Vanarama National League.

Phase 3 Completed Summer 2019: Planning consent for new dugouts obtained from RBG. No longer any coaching staff (apart from Robinson) or medical staff and only three substitutes available; they sit on fold-up chairs. Charlton avoid relegation to National League South on last day of season.

Phase 4 Completed Summer 2020: New dugout drainage system installed. Robinson can now piss where he stands. Charlton relegated to National League South.

Phase 5 Completed Summer 2021: New dugouts built. Unfortunately builders misread plans and put them behind the goal in front of the Covered End. Robinson still on fold-up chair; 12-year-old substitutes double up as ballboys. This removes the need for them to warm up prior to entering the fray. #sweatingtheassets. Charlton play at Welling in the traditional first match of the season. This is a league game. Pre-season friendlies are too expensive. Charlton lose 5-1.

Phase 6 (Complex two-year phase) Completed Summer 2022: New dugouts purchased direct from Lego. Lego cannot deliver red bricks, only Millwall blue is available. Dugouts are therefore temporary.
    image

Phase 7 Pending as at Summer 2023: Club cannot afford new red Lego bricks. At end of season club is relegated to Isthmian League Premier Division. KM tells RD that the team have reached the Premier League at last.

Phase 8 Completed Summer 2024: Thanks to a donation of £137.50 from longstanding fans, Sid and Doris Bonkers, the dugouts are completed. In a disaster of unprecedented proportions, Meire's four-year-old twins "play" with the Lego bricks while on a "Bring Your Daughter to Work" day. They convert the dugouts into a giant Lego burger

    image

Robinson eats it by mistake, the dugouts are destroyed. Charlton's new star striker treads on an errant Lego brick and breaks his metatarsal. He's out for the season. Charlton relegated to the Isthmian League Division 1.

Return to Phase 1 and repeat........

    JUST SELL THE CLUB!

    F'ing brilliant. haha.

Significant dates for Roly at Charlton Athletic
3rd January 2014 Takes over Charlton Athletic FC
11th March 2014 Chris Powell is sacked
Jose Riga appointed as head coach
28th May 2014 Bob Peeters appointed head coach
11th January 2015 Bob Peeters sacked
13th January 2015 Guy Luzon appointed head coach
24th October 2015 Guy Luzon sacked
25th October 2015 Karel Fraeye appointed as interim head coach
13th January 2016 Karel Fraeye sacked
14th January 2016 Jose Riga is back again as head coach
19th April 2016 Relegated to League 1 after goalless draw at Bolton
6th June 2016 Russell Slade appointed as manager
14th November 2016 Russell Slade sacked

Seeing it all written down brings it home even more how badly we have done, To all those people saying give them another chance they are still learning, well they are obviously slow on the uptake as it has taken them three and a half years to learn what is required. When I am 70 odd I doubt I will want to waste that much time cocking things up.
  • You forgot 12 January 2015 - Katrien interviewed 47 potential managerial candidates before deciding Luzon was by far and away the best man for the job.

True but if I added all her statements I would have had RSI by the end of the list.

I am aware it will be cancelled at the last minute, but if there is a regime meeting with the Trust then I hope every detail regarding the Jimmy Seed stand is poured over relentlessly.
I mentioned this above but want to repeat it. I have been to Start Truiden's ground and it is beyond awful. Really seriously dire. Makes Colchester seem like Lech Poznan. It is really easy to envisage how Duchatelet will ruin our stadium like that. You can be assured that Tony Cajones will love this project to fail at, like he has failed with Sparrows Lane, he will be well up for the destruction of the Valley and will stretch it out to keep his job such as his job is.
Of one thing I feel certain, Tony Cajones is not the kind of person to hurt by accident, but I feel he is the kind of person who absolutely loves to cause distress to as many people as possible quite deliberately. Quite deliberately.

the Belgium leach only ever wanted the Valley not a football club , He has not interest in our club or football , This should have showed up when someone allowed him as a fit and proper person to buy into football

No it's on the CAFC (unofficial) facebook group.

To be fair the guy certainly isn't a regime apologist and in one spat with that idiot Damian Laver, he clearly shows he disagrees with Sue and her son, so he is only reporting back what was said, but as 2 others said in the (many) replies to him.

    1. She told you what you wanted to hear
    2. I've had the same conversation with her on train journeys before, she's very convincing until you realise it's all a farce.

Bit random, but how far back did the old South Stand go (before it was renamed the Jimmy Seed  ) was it to where the houses in the picture below are?

From what I can tell it was only ever as big as the footprint of the JS now
