Can't help but think the "making Charlton something of a feeder club for the next generation of Aussie superstars" isn't quite the same type of feeder club we are used to!

Looks like they're connected with Richmond FC (Aussie Rules team)

Not sure who G Murphy is, might be interesting.

Gerard Murphy is explicitly mentioned on the Mail article.

I'm looking forward to the pitchside barbie and the move to only selling beer in half pints already.

More concerned by lack of funds than anything else.

Getting the best young Aussie players is great as long as Muscat is nothing to do with it!

I'm optimistic, the potential management look like they may know a thing or two about running a football club as they have sports management background.

Plus I'd assume any new potential scouting network would extend beyond Tommy Driesen with the latest database update of Football Manager

So we may remain a feeder club. Sue will be mighty pleased.

  • Bit like Jimenez, Slater and Cash with Roland mixed into one.

Obviously their intention is to get an "Aussie" team into the PL, we'd be the "Aussie" team like Leicester are the Thai team, Man City are the Abu Dhabi team, Cardiff as the Malaysian team (ahem)

The lack of a rich individual sounds concerning, though Charlton's glory days from 1992 onwards were based on having many investors rather than one power crazy individual

Apparently because they're so far away they would hope to keep the current smt intact to carry on running the club & if they get enough backing they're going to buy in an extra pack of vol au vents for those blaggers on the sidelines

I'd ignore the unhelpful rhetoric about feeder club stuff for now. At least we appear to be getting a little meat on the bones.

We must be able to gain some insight into Murphy and Aitken, particularly from the formers previous links with Crystal Palace.

That it appears they have been putting an investment blueprint together to entice others suggests they don't particularly have much financial backing themselves

Just slightly encouraged they have articulated the investment potential of the club/ business which might draw others in, but it is a sign we are at the sharp end of football's newest business model, with the chances of homegrown or locally sponsored interests having control of the club belonging to a previous era. Have to hope this is early days in a longer process with better news to follow.

The potential difference here could be the 'feeder' principle is getting Aussie 'stars of the future' to help the club progress up the league's - not as a player farm ala RD. I'm pleased that they see their role as delivering success on the pitch - it's not rocket science Duchebag!

    Smithy said:

Don't like the sound of this at all. Australian Roland.

But without a lot of money in the bank
Also means that Roland by having a lot of money doesnt have to sell if he doesnt want... If he wants to be a true bastard he can run the club into the Ground and won't feel it.

This Australian Company on the other hand won't be able to do that and if they start losing too much they'll have to sell else the owners will destroy themselves
Unless douchbag invests in the Aussies ?

    Hmm....

Some of the words used are making me cringe (I'm hoping that I'm just misunderstanding their gist), but, trying to stay positive.....they are a sports mad country and know a thing or too about sporting success. If we became the Aussies adopted English footy team, it could generate lots of interest, and more importantly, cash. I like the Aussies and they are genuinely passionate about their sport. And they hate losing. They certainly wouldn't put up with the underperforming shite that we have been subjected to for the last few years.

If it means that we start going in upward direction again, then I'm all for it as we sure as shit are only going downwards with the current bunch of clowns in charge....

Ffs people. The possible new owners haven't even taken over and the negativity has already started. Be careful not to scare people away by speculating about their intentions immediately. Few points..,

    - We want ROLAND out.
    - We want Katrein Out.
    - Anyone has potential to be better than them.
    - People don't generally invest to fail.
    - Feeding us young potential stars don't mean forcing us to play them.
    - Everyone deserves a chance.
    - We gave Roland at least a year before we rebelled.
    - I don't think any owner will want to piss us off again.
    - At least aussies speak the lingo.
    - FINALLY IF HE SELLS WE WON ANOTHER BATTLE!

Once bitten twice shy, and the league is full of very bad owners. Coventry, Blackpool, Leyton Orient..

    Scepticism is healthy IMO.

No news of the financial backers then? No problem with a consortium, but if their combined wealth adds up to 50 mil we'll have more problems than we have now.

All of a sudden Charlton Lifers are clinging to a daily mail story, are we due an eclipse?

I think some people are getting ahead of themselves, why assume they will be changing our kit to yellow and green! If their plan is to get us into the top flight, they put themselves way ahead of Roland already. Lots of talenet in Australia and it would be great if loads of Aussies start supporting us!
  • Wonder if Murray is involved with this lot?

Australian Football Consortium Ltd (AFC) are currently attempting to raise the capital necessary to buy out the Belgian, who holds 100 per cent of the shares via his holding company Staprix NV.

    ''Attempting to raise the capital''

If they are attempting to raise the capital, how much money will they have to put in the club?

    This bodes well!

I wonder how much a protest coach to Australia will cost?

let's just hope that this comes to fruition and that we get new owners, a ceo who knows what he's doing and a NEW MANAGER in time to sign some decent players ready for the very important 2017/18 season
  • 'The mooted deal to purchase both the club and the New Eltham training facility is believed to be worth around £20million.'

    Does that include The Valley?

How many clubs in the top 2 divisions are owned by local businessmen these days?
  • This part of the article alone makes them a million times better than the stupid old Belgian fool.

"AFC’s stated aim is to return Charlton to the Premier League"

Fucking long way to go for our pre season friendlies though.

I think we can have a good idea the price is £20m now. And it is clearly in Roland's interests to sell a.s.a.p. if he is selling, which I'm sure he is!
