10 players there that will need replacing in the summer (or re-signed).
Some more essential than others. Will be interesting to see which are let go and which are offered contracts. I suppose a lot will depend on the league we're in.

Good work Scoham.
We must be the only club in the country where the players have to introduce themselves themselves to each other - before each and every game.0 -

To me it seems crazy to only have 3 strikers. One unfit, one injured and one returning from injury. Makes the Ajose move seem silly.
EDIT: Forgot about the Arsenal lad.
Nothing to see here.2 -
I think you're still probably right though - we have one unfit, one injured, one returning from injury and one completely untried.Leeds_Addick said:To me it seems crazy to only have 3 strikers. One unfit, one injured and one returning from injury. Makes the Ajose move seem silly.

Signing players at this time of the season you really want them to hit the ground running, the odds must be against an 18 year who has never played a first team match and has been raised playing his football in a very different environment managing to do that. I was no fan of Ajose but this seems nuts.2 -
6 are on loan and very very unlikely to return - RJ will be dumped asap & expect JJ to be playing his last season with us.Callumcafc said:Declan Rudd 2017 - season long loan from Norwich City

another revolving door come the summer.0 -
Don't worry - a guy on a bus who knows someone who knows the neighbour of the milkman who delivers milk to someone who works at the training ground told me a new 2 year contract will be offered to RoJo by the regime in the summer.se9addick said:

Johnson - Gone in the Summer (Please God)
Chicksen - Gone in the Summer
Crofts - maybe a 1 year extension but unlikely
Jackson - year extension but player coach and unlikely to be on the pitch
Ulvestad - Return to sender
Botaka - Return to sender
Byrne - Return to sender
Dasilva - Return to sender
Mavididi - Return to sender
Add to that, at least one of Bauer, Pearce or Tex will be sold and I expect by the Summer Robinson will have dropped Watt to the U23 squad so he'll be sold, possibly Novak as well but that will depend if anyone from the Championship comes in for Magennis.
So it'll be loans, freebies and the odd buy in the summer (on the cheap of course), the squad will lack depth for next years league 1 battle and after 10 games without a win and us forth from bottom Robinson is shown the door.......2 -
I don't see why Chicksen wouldn't have his contract extended, he's playing regularly now.
Crofts could easily say on for another year
If Byrne does well, I imagine we'd try to sign him permanently, Wigan signed EIGHT players yesterday, so probably won't want him back6 -

So basically, as of this summer, only 14 of the players currently listed above will be still here that are part of our current squad. 7 of which will be 23 or under.
Absolute shambles.0 -
To be fair most teams in L1 or Championship rely heavily on loanees or free agents - it's about getting in their early and preparing for the summer. Powell did it excellently the year we went up, most of our business was done by July and they had a full pre season together.. Robinson's comments yesterday suggested he is already preparing for the summer but it remains to be seen whether he will last!Rob7Lee said:

Squad of 24 then, plus Mitov and Ahearne-Grant who will realistically be involved with the first team from the U23s.AFKABartram said:have updatated on Ba / Muldoon, and struck through those out on loan / long term injured
About the right squad size, but can't help but feel that our central midfield is very under strength.
Has there been any confirmation from the club about the issue regarding the number of players on loan?0 -
In the Guardian today the fee paid for Lewis Page is disclosed as £500,000.3
-
Yes but they will have an underpin of players who have played with each other. We have just two out in our squad who have played more than 50 games for the Club - one, Jackson, has no long term longevity as a player and the other, Solly, would have been sold by now but for his chronic injury problems. Compare that to the top side in the division, Scunthorpe, who have 10 who have played at least that number of games for the club.tgarrat1 said:

Going back to our promotion under Powell, we had no less than nine players who appeared at least 40 times in all competitions that season. I wouldn't be able to write down a single name who I thought are likely play the same number of games for us next season.
Re-building is fine as long as you aren't trying to change the squad each and every season - or even every window. And any of youngsters for which we receive a meaningful bid will be sold under this regime. Our loans and short term contracts will continue and purchases will either be young (and yet to be proven) or simply injury prone/have temperament issues. And those that fall into the unproven category are just as likely to be off should they end up being successful with us - Roland has to "make ends meet" somehow.
All of that is not a recipe for a successful team.5 -

That is a lot of players that will need replacing in the Summer, together with replacing a Manager or two if recent form is to go by. We suffered this year from all the Summer recruitment taking place too late - I won't be surprised if the same will happen again since KM has hardly covered herself in glory when given the chance to demonstrate her supposed contractual skills. So another season of League 1 mediocrity beckons - and that is the positive scenario. You don't see many disorganised clubs gaining promotion.0 -

£50,000 would be very high given his previous. Nobody is paying £500,000 for a left-back in League One.Henry Irving said:

I now expect Konsa to be wrapped in cotton wool with just the odd cameo performance - he's clearly been in the shop window long enough to gain some PL interest and Roland wouldn't want him to sustain a long term injury prior to being sold in the summer would he now?cafc-west said:According to this: http://addicksdiary3.blogspot.co.uk/2017/02/konsa-saved-from-club.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

Of course, Konsa will also sign a new long term contract in the next couple of months thus giving the false impression that he is here to stay for a little while longer when we all know that it's purely to enhance his value.
