10 players there that will need replacing in the summer (or re-signed).
Some more essential than others. Will be interesting to see which are let go and which are offered contracts. I suppose a lot will depend on the league we're in.
We must be the only club in the country where the players have to introduce themselves themselves to each other - before each and every game.
EDIT: Forgot about the Arsenal lad.
Nothing to see here.
Signing players at this time of the season you really want them to hit the ground running, the odds must be against an 18 year who has never played a first team match and has been raised playing his football in a very different environment managing to do that. I was no fan of Ajose but this seems nuts.
another revolving door come the summer.
Johnson - Gone in the Summer (Please God)
Chicksen - Gone in the Summer
Crofts - maybe a 1 year extension but unlikely
Jackson - year extension but player coach and unlikely to be on the pitch
Ulvestad - Return to sender
Botaka - Return to sender
Byrne - Return to sender
Dasilva - Return to sender
Mavididi - Return to sender
Add to that, at least one of Bauer, Pearce or Tex will be sold and I expect by the Summer Robinson will have dropped Watt to the U23 squad so he'll be sold, possibly Novak as well but that will depend if anyone from the Championship comes in for Magennis.
So it'll be loans, freebies and the odd buy in the summer (on the cheap of course), the squad will lack depth for next years league 1 battle and after 10 games without a win and us forth from bottom Robinson is shown the door.......
Crofts could easily say on for another year
If Byrne does well, I imagine we'd try to sign him permanently, Wigan signed EIGHT players yesterday, so probably won't want him back
Absolute shambles.
About the right squad size, but can't help but feel that our central midfield is very under strength.
Has there been any confirmation from the club about the issue regarding the number of players on loan?
Going back to our promotion under Powell, we had no less than nine players who appeared at least 40 times in all competitions that season. I wouldn't be able to write down a single name who I thought are likely play the same number of games for us next season.
Re-building is fine as long as you aren't trying to change the squad each and every season - or even every window. And any of youngsters for which we receive a meaningful bid will be sold under this regime. Our loans and short term contracts will continue and purchases will either be young (and yet to be proven) or simply injury prone/have temperament issues. And those that fall into the unproven category are just as likely to be off should they end up being successful with us - Roland has to "make ends meet" somehow.
All of that is not a recipe for a successful team.
That is a lot of players that will need replacing in the Summer, together with replacing a Manager or two if recent form is to go by. We suffered this year from all the Summer recruitment taking place too late - I won't be surprised if the same will happen again since KM has hardly covered herself in glory when given the chance to demonstrate her supposed contractual skills. So another season of League 1 mediocrity beckons - and that is the positive scenario. You don't see many disorganised clubs gaining promotion.
Dijksteel new deal confirmed
But they wouldn't be the first newspaper to have got something wrong.
we only just kept Konsa. Thanks to Ms Meire. Umm.
"Charlton don't sell a player, aren't we wonderful"
Of course, Konsa will also sign a new long term contract in the next couple of months thus giving the false impression that he is here to stay for a little while longer when we all know that it's purely to enhance his value.
Cynical? Moi? Never!
