Weather tomorrow looking better tomorrow so hopefully with drainage and groundstaff it should be ok.
  • About 7pm tonight in Exeter - heaviest rain I've seen in years - don't know if its heading for Yeovil (the last time I got soaked to the skin at a game) or heading for Bristol.

Presume they make a pitch inspection midday tomorrow?

Damn, I was looking forward to it.

Ok, I'm lying. I considered going as I don't usually miss a new ground (for me) opportunity, but couldn't think of anything worse for a November Tuesday evening.

    Carlisle ? .. Hartlepool ? .. Barrow ?
Bradford midweek in JANUARY cup game 1990s or midweek Grimsby,PNE,OR Boro .now i know you have done them as well as Rochdale on a Tuesday night afew years ago because i spoke with you and Mark Stuart.
Oh yes. I've done midweeks away at Bury, Doncaster, Hereford, Cheltenham, Grimsby, Rochdale etc etc, but that was then and this is now. I'll go to Rovers away (The Memorial, seen them at Bath) next season on a Saturday, when RD and KM have departed.
For some reason I read that post as Lyle Lanley in that Simpsons episode with the monorail

"I've sold monorails to Brockway, Ogdenville and North Haverbrook"

Does that mean we have to watch out for divers in the box?

I can perfectly understand why your worried Fiiiish
There may also be confusion if someone announces that they're bringing on a sub...
Especially if it's a Uboat, they're still lurking about like the one here  .
Do Rovers have a reputation for sticking Das Boot in?

Wasn't it their hatchet man Blizzard who broke Grant Basey's leg with a terrible tackle?

Trains have had cancellations between London and Bristol today so worth keeping a close eye on that tomorrow - some have been diverted that added 40 mins to the journey time.

Strength is depth is something the Charlton Live squad can boast that perhaps the actual Addicks can't.

Think carefully @LouisMend , you know in the old days women were said to bring bad luck on board because they distracted the sailors from their sea duties.

I would never be so rude as to question a lady's age Hants and furthermore I value my looks and Fanny's humbugs too much, Let's just say there is no substitute for the experiences of life
  • Finally stopped raining in Exeter after what seemed like 24hours continuous.

Others have said drainage not too bad at the Memorial.
I think my memory of the pitch last time was clouded by the fact that Bristol Rugby used to play there as well so it got churned up on regular basis - but they have now moved to Ashton Gate so............game on?

  • Nice and dry up this way today.
  • Good dont really want a build up of games that we've got to catch up.

    (1) Its only November so there's still time for plenty of abandoned matches

    (2) The table potentially wont give a true representation of where we are in the League and we'll have another case of the Manager being sacked because we've 12-pts disadvantage over everyone else making us look worse than we are (i.e. Chris Powell)

Well the Referee is only down the road in Wiltshire

Cant he get down there about 12noon to check the conditions now if we're only expecting drizzle?

To be fair though we're probably being harsh and snobbish in regards to the Bristol Rovers pitch, they have mainly been a League One team throughout their history and it was only really misfortune which saw them drop to the Conference a few years ago.
  • thinking of going to this??!!! are tickets available tonight?,thanks
  • That pitch is no worse than ours was a couple of years back.

Just checked and only trains between Swindon and Bristol Parkway are affected, Bristol Temple Meads trains OK. I'm booked on 17.27 from Reading.

Not unless he wants to upset his employees, before driving down to Bristol later on.
