Northwich no big deal. Recall we should've lost to D&R and we were premiership then! If I was going I'd clap as he had a thankless task under Slater. More interested in what Slade up to on the day.
Parky was a nice guy, and his management of the 9 man Llera 2-2 Boxing day Swindon thingy was brilliant. However. Northwich Victoria. No abuse, a polite clap, and on we go.
Got lucky in his first league one season with his refusal to drop Rob Elliott, despite numerous howlers ,when the better keeper Randolph was available. Nearly cost us our play off spot but an injury to Elliott against gillingham with 8 games or so to go meant Randy was in and he kept numerous clean sheets to assure us of our play off spot

As always, some ridiculous comments. Parky was doing a great job. He brings his table topping team to the valley tomorrow and will get good reception from me.
It's interesting that he signed Jacko on loan twice (Colchester 2003, Charlton 2010) and both times he played mainly at LB!
I guess had Kelly Youga never been injured (and thus ending his Charlton career) Johnnie would never have joined as he joined in the second half of the 2009-10 season and Youga had made 22-appearances that season.

Ridiculous point
I think you might be confusing a point with an opinion.

I think Parkinson did a good job considering the horrendous tools he was given. Weren't we in the playoffs when he was fired ? Didn't end up anywhere near there after he'd gone did we ?
I will clap him all the way. He's a legend. Favourite memory was winning 4-3 at Carlisle with that late, late Benno header. I think he might find a bit too warm to wear his nice jumper.

Youga was turning it around that season. I was gutted when he got injured. He was the most extreme example of a confidence player. Great when on form but the Sheffield United game was as bad as they get.
If I knew how to change my user-name I would. Compared to some of the absolute shite that came after him, he was world class. Am still boycotting (a couple of wins haven't changed the way I feel) but if I was attending I would give Parky a polite welcome.
Very mixed period and won't go down as one of the greatest managers in our history
Negative
- should never have got the job in the first place (based on results), - was questionable in my eyes in his usage of Shelvey. - managed the Northwich disaster - managed a humiliation at Millwall
Not Negative
- had to manage through a difficult period with little resources, - was desperately unlucky not to get us promoted back up to the Champ at the first attempt, both through marginally missing out on automatic in a very strong League 1, and the Bailey pen - always seemed to come across well and had a good attitude - players I've spoken to over the years have spoken with praise him - I quite liked the v-jumper, shirt and tie look
thoughts?
Was limited in his use of Jonjo as a condition of the Liverpool deal. Reckon the same is currently happening with Lookman who isn't getting enough game time!!
Nice to see some of the old Charlton attitude still remains at the club. Parky was under appreciated by sections of our support when he was our manager. History seems to be judging him more favourably.

Or I might have dreamt that. Either way that signing turned out very well indeed.
Deserves a good reception.
