Never rated him at ours, but always liked him. Bumped into him at a cash point before Palace at home and asked him he thought we would win, he replied with "I hope so". Didn't fill me with confidence but admired the honesty.
Was that the Matt Spring 1-0 win?
that's the one, one glimmer of light in an otherwise horrendous campaign
Didn't he personally help fund one of our loan signings at some point, or am I just making that up?
Anyway, top man that in ordinary circumstances would have got us back to league 1 at the first attempt (imagine we signed BWP at this point) and I did one will give him a warm reception.
I liked him a lot. Northwich was poor but these things happen. 2009/10 was generally a season of over achievement given our lack of a left winger and lack of depth at centre half and up front.
It finished very badly in 2010 for him but he was left with having to sign terrible players like Pawel Abbot etc.
Deserves a round of applause. Was very nearly a good CAFC manager.
Good reception from me. Gave 100% for the club and that's worth applauding. Should be a given but out of the last 6 that only applies to 2 (before Slade who we can't judge yet)
If it winds Meire up I will cheer Parky to the rafters on Saturday!
God bless his V neck jumper.
Agreed - he seems a decent chap and applause would be appropriate. Mind you, KM would miss the point of the applause. She would interpret it as 'what a nice atmosphere there is at the Valley now that those nasty protestors have gone'.
Thought he was a crap manager who only did rigid 4.4.2 but I miss those golden days of crap football with commitment, integrity and hope which he represented.
Will be warmly applauding him at 10pm on the match thread if i can be bothered, which is very unlikely.
Will applaud him for sure, it costs nothing and I think he deserves a good reception.
His starting XI has to be the most short on quality in my lifetime as a fan, but he had us doing 'okay' in League 1 given the teams around us. His time at Bradford has shown that he's at very least a decent enough manager, and as practically everyone has said - seems like a top bloke.
I don't know how much I blame Parky for Northwich really. It was terrible, but he put out what was essentially more or less our best team, they just decided to be shit. Jonjo's attitude that day was terrible and he was lucky the ref didn't deal with him more harshly when he basically pulled one of their players' shirt off, McLeod was a disgrace and Bailey was a complete headless chicken. They just all looked totally unprepared for a team that would try against them. You can maybe say Parky didn't prepare them correctly but I always saw that match as a game where the players just decided not to bother.
Parky is just one of those guys who it is difficult to dislike. He tried his best for us alas it wasn't enough, but he's turned into a pretty decent manager.
Like as many have said a round of applause should be given. I would join in if I was there but as I am on a ST boycott I can't. He has proved a very good manager at Bradford City, and I feel he is a man of integrity, something Duct - Tape and Nightmier will never understand.
Played against Parky once. This was during the time he was managing us. He organised a match at Sparrows Lane - him & his staff vs a load of us that played 5-a-side together. As well as PP, they had Phil Chapple, Tim Breacker & Mark Kinsella in their side. Needless to say, they won 4-2 with Parky completely running the show in midfield. An amazing experience for me, especially playing against Kinsella, who was a real idol of mine growing up (unfortunately his knees had well & truly gone by then meaning he didn't play for long). Anyway, I found Parky to be genuinely down to earth, he made sure we were looked after & you could tell he cared about ALL of his staff. Oh, & he had Callum H running the line! (also spoke to Callum that day & he came across as a good lad).
Never rated him at ours, but always liked him. Bumped into him at a cash point before Palace at home and asked him he thought we would win, he replied with "I hope so". Didn't fill me with confidence but admired the honesty.
Was he getting some cash out to pay for another player?
He's a good man. A good manager. Just Pardew pissed the money away and he had to piece together a squad of freebies, who were very very effective, but nowhere near good enough individually.
He was also visibly gutted on sky about a week after we sacked him and we were on. He kept saying "we" and having to correct himself to "Charlton" and it visibly upset him a couple of times.
I think we should give him a round of applause in the 65th minute . Why? Because that's what seat Nicky Baileys penalty hit in row z that playoff semi night .
Yeah he's alright, clap politely, move on, focus on the game.
Basically - no point reminiscing with him, as he was in charge during a thoroughly unremarkable part of our recent history. Meh. But good luck to him cos he was left with a load of shit to sort out and understandably wasn't really able to sort it out.

I'll be on holiday on Saturday but would certainly have given Parky a big round of applause. He's a thoroughly decent and honourable man and a very good manager.
He inherited a mess from Pardew and did very well to get us into the Play-Offs in 2009/10 on limited resources. The Club's failure to go up left us on the knife edge of administration that summer and when the players reported back to training at the beginning of July, he only had something like eight or nine senior professionals to work with. Bailey had gone to Boro for £1.4 million, Shelvey to Liverpool for £1.7 million (commuted to £1.5 million for swifter payment), Lloyd Sam to Leeds (because we couldn't afford to offer him a new contract) and Deon Burton to Azerbaijan. 2010/11 was also a season too far for Christian Daley, who had been outstanding for us and won Player of the Year the year before. Against that backcloth, Parky did well to have us sitting near the top of the table at the time of his dismissal.
In addition to the outstanding job he did for Bradford City over five years, he managed to get Colchester United into the Championship, despite having one of the smallest turnovers and budgets in League 1 - on any view, a magnificent achievement. His only failure thus far was at Hull City, where he was sacked halfway through 2006/7.
Parky was a nice guy, and his management of the 9 man Llera 2-2 Boxing day Swindon thingy was brilliant. However. Northwich Victoria. No abuse, a polite clap, and on we go.
The 48-year-old told News Shopper: “I’m looking forward to coming back to the Valley, I haven’t been back since I left. I got along with everyone when I was there - it’s a great, family club. “There are still people working there from when I was there so I’m looking forward to catching up with them.”
There can't be that many people who remain there from his time...
Nice enough bloke but f*****g useless for us. I stayed in the same hotel as the team when we played at Southampton and he took them for a get together/walk around the grounds on the morning of the game. Half the bloody side had headphones on and weren't listening to a word he was saying and he just let them get away with it.

I hope we clap him; I will be.

Wish him every success in his career

An outburst of booing in the 4th minutes because of the Millwall score at the den.

Will there be jelly? Will there be cake?
Shouldn't have got the job, - will be judged on interim results eh? - but he was one goal away from automatic promotion that next season.
The opening post sums it for me:
Negatives
Non negatives
But no positives.
