Likeable bloke but couldn't give a toss what he does at Bolton. We have far more pressing issues to be concerned about. Let's not turn it into an enjoyable day for him.2

I think he was a very limited coach, albeit one often working with a limited squad. I hope he gets a warm round of applause though, I would expect that of most returning non-Pardew managers. I think it's always a nice way to say "thank you for your time here" even if things didn't go to plan.0

Not a bad bloke but personally thought he did a shocking job on the whole, presided over a worst ever run should never have got the job and whilst he was a bit unlucky to miss out on promotion that first season down, I actually don't think we were very good for most of that season and just kind of fumbled our way to being up there almost based just on reputation and being a big fish in the league one pond (which sort of continued to the end of his reign - when he was sacked we were 4th or something but had been so shit most of the season which was borne out when Powell took over and we ended up bottom half before he overhauled our crap side). Bailey penalty miss hurt but was a blessing in disguise as it spared us what would possibly have been the most painful day in our history.2

Millwall and exposed young players to a DISGRACEFUL performance at the home of wank

I wasn't his biggest fan and thought he should've got us back up at the first time of asking, however, he's a real professional. Very dignified man who did well at Bradford and stayed there to re build his career. Will happily welcome him back1

Hugh respect ever since he kindly offered me a lift home to Bromley when I was absolutely sloshed in the Millennium lounge back in 2008. Unfortunately (for the second time that day) my pint went slipping off the 'sloping' bar 10 seconds after and I was promptly exited through the side door .
Shame really I had some great tactical insights lined up for the journey home!15 -
Hope he gets a decent reception and not the "Parky Parky your a ****" chant. Wont hold my breath.

He did an Interview with Charlton Live a few years ago didnt he?
Am sure he was asked how he felt at the time about the sacking and there was no bitterness there, pretty much said that he understood Slater etc. would want his own man and that he was pleased how Charlton turned out.
Hell the question could even be asked, had we signed BWP and left Parky in charge would we have gone up that season as he left us in the Play-Offs and nose dived under Powell when all we were really missing was a Striker1 -

You blamed two ✌ results on the post I quoted. Maybe give a bit more weight to your arguments in future.

I have no football feelings for Parky either way, I have him in the same queue as Peeters, Luzon et al, Parky just leaves me cold, so much so that I cant even be bothered to write about him on a footy thread.......0

Not a great manager and should never have been given the job on a full time basis. However, had a lot of dignity when Murray turned round in the summer and basically siad if there were enough ST's sold, we would have enough money to offload him. He had to work on a shoestring, and while that doesn 't excuse some of his managerial decisions, he was a nice nloke, and I would applaud him if I was in the ground on saturday.0

Met him a few times and he was polite, courteous and very likeable and he remembered faces well....good traits in management. Would get a clap from me but doubt he will hear it from here...2

Always seemed like a decent bloke. I seem to remember hearing that he put his hand in his own pocket to cover the loan signing of Gary Borrowdale when we really needed cover at LB. Wasn't tactically brilliant but was on a hiding to nothing with no money and no spirit in the team and kept us competitive until the money could come in. That Swindon Play off match still hurts, but the feeling of at least competing to return to the Championship having so recently been in the Prem kept a lot of us going I reckon. I still haven't forgotten Tresor Kandol though4

Impeccable character. A real hero of a person, he is a man you can trust.
Should be warmly received IMO.
His footballing record is a B with 20/20 hindsight (and I was very critical of him on that account after his first season)
But as a man he is right up there with Curbs and Powell in terms of being honest, reliable ane hard-working.

I think his post-Charlton career shows that he learned quite a lot in his time here, sadly too late for us, and whilst Powell turned out be an excellent appointment the manner of Parky's disposal and Powell's arrival remain a bit iffy.
As to Parkinson himself, if I met him on the street or in a pub I would like to have a chat and buy the guy a pint. But as for the game on Saturday he would just be another opposition manager and get no particular reception either way.1 -
I hope he is warmly received.
He managed for almost two years without a proper striker.
Burton, Benson, Sodje etc.
Arguably the best manager in this division for me.

Parky never recovered from the bizarre circumstances of his appointment, being given the permanent job after a dismal series of results, but did a decent job in L1.

- should never have got the job in the first place (based on results),
- was questionable in my eyes in his usage of Shelvey.
- managed the Northwich disaster
- managed a humiliation at Millwall
Not Negative
- had to manage through a difficult period with little resources,
- was desperately unlucky not to get us promoted back up to the Champ at the first attempt, both through marginally missing out on automatic in a very strong League 1, and the Bailey pen
- always seemed to come across well and had a good attitude
- players I've spoken to over the years have spoken with praise him
- I quite liked the v-jumper, shirt and tie look

Never rated him at ours, but always liked him. Bumped into him at a cash point before Palace at home and asked him he thought we would win, he replied with "I hope so". Didn't fill me with confidence but admired the honesty.0
