    Redmond

    Yes, again £10m.

    Connor wickham

    Yes, £9m.

Involves 3 players Palace overpaid for (though Gayle they somehow managed to sell on for more).

At the time he went to Liverpool for 6m or whatever he was, but he isn't anymore.

Not true, there will have been loads. The Villa team that won had a few, e.g. Dennis Mortimer, Kenny Swain

Very good young player but shows if we sell Lookman for any less than £4m rising to £8m, it's an absolute joke. Just like the reported Cousins and Gudmundsson fees.

Pennant played in the final that they lost rather than in Istanbul.

So there are loads and Pennant wasn't one of them?

As well as not being an answer to the original question?

Why do people pay such a premium for young English players when major tournaments show our talent up to be shit versus their global counterparts?

Why do people pay such a premium for young English players when major tournaments show our talent up to be shit versus their global counterparts?

Because people think it's important to have "an English/British core," with English players and an English/British manager. League football is very different to international football, especially in Britain. That said, I think the idea of a British core is vastly overrated.

    Hi Roland.
Psh, I'd never have appointed an aging, lower league English manager.
