    With the exception of the play-offs, the final is nearly always a cagey affair. It's about what's at stake that makes them tense rather than exciting.

    I've hated Portugal for many years, but they have showed immense character as the tournament wound on, especially today. Individually, the French looked like they were aware that they could lose it from about the 70th minute on and, without Griezmann's magic, they lacked leadership. That came very close to being a classic away smash and grab.

    What a shit tournament. Whoever won that I don't feel like they are worthy champions. Obviously they did enough to get to the final but as much as I've been unimpressed with both of them they got through every game. Only beat the same side we did in 90 minutes.
