  • I shook my head as I read this thread. I’m obviously too old to get it, I simply do not understand.

    Then I read Roland’s rant and a light went on inside my head … then it went out again.

    Must be Roland then, he's the mathematician. That would also explain how it managed to get past the head of comms.

    Having had students ask me to help them with math, trust me, stuff you did in primary school would be beyond most on here.

    Braces

    Braces are also known as curly brackets "{ }". On a qwerty keyboard, the left and right curly braces are found on the same keys as the square brackets.

    Braces are mostly used in music or poetry. The only use for a brace in writing is when a writer presents or creates a list of equal choices for a reader or in a number set.

    Examples:

    Number set: {2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12}
    Equal choices: Choose a color {red, white, blue, pink} to paint the wall
    Music chords: [ {c, e, g} {e, g, c2} {g, c2, e2} ]

    Clearly used incorrectly.

    The statement was certainly was not poetry or music to my ears :smile:

    Yes! Number sets! That's what I learned at school. I just found it on Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Set_notation
