Just wait until the end of the season. Teams always have a run and can't see why its not us. Charlton for life!

What next, polish pete to come back and finish top scorer??
Polish Pete and Tucudean up front, what a partnership?
  • I agree that it's possible. After all we're only 14 points off the playoffs!

    I don't think it's very likely though...
  • Not possible. We're shit.
  • Should this thread be closed ?
  • Greenie what drugs r u taking?
  • Errrrrr. Righto.

  • If ever a thread should be closed by the moderators, this is it. All the religion, race, sex, class, politics, refugees and housing threads have nothing on this one after witnessing the latest episode of the Roland Destroyourclub story tonight
  • 3 points away at Burnley on Saturday and this thread will be resurrected but for now...

As crazy as this may sound I saw enough quality in the Leeds match to see a few positives. Starting with Bolton tonight, 3 points on the board and a good holiday period run-maybe just maybe we might sneak in the back door to the play-offs. Stranger things have happened.

How are you feeling this morning mate?
  • We have absolutely no chance. The question should be whether there is a possibility we will stay up. If we strengthen the squad, the answer to that question is yes. That is the best we can do - and I think the squad being strengthened is as unlikely as it is likely with these idiots in charge.

Perhaps the thread should be renamed

"Is mid table mediocrity a possibility?"
  • This content has been removed.
  • No point investing in players come January if you have some no mark amateur coach in charge.

Has to be a new coach who knows what it takes to survive in this league and a few new, experienced heads on the playing side.

I am expecting neither under this lot!

Its all this negativity that breeds negativity!

I think the expression you are looking for is `Familiarity breeds contempt'.
  • The best we can hope for is that there are enough bad teams down there that we might just scrape 21st place, although our record against the other strugglers is execrable. But then what? Adios any youngster they can get a few bob for, cut the budget and bring in more rubbish even worse than some of this years intake. Carol Frey Bentos will probably take the fall but it will probably be like for like in that department once they've done the 36 interviews. Grim days....

All this negativity didn't just pop up out of nowhere - it is down to two years of mismanagement on an industrial scale, five mangers, poor football, an increasing miserable match day experience and peoples rationale appraisal of how likely thing are to improve - Don't even mention the sofa,or Target 20,000.

Our negativity didn't create the current situation - it is a response to it.

Have to admire your optimism however and sincerely hope you are right!

I wish I could have your optimism but just taking the last four games we have lost 0-3 at home, 2-3 away, and drew 0-0, & 2-2 at home. Apart from a couple of minutes in those games we haven't look any better than our 3rd from bottom position would suggest. Even when we were 2 up against Brighton it was more due to the opposition having a mare, we had chances to put the game out of reach and paid for it after the break.
If we had a third rate coach, a couple of descent centre backs, a midfield that links up between back and front and if we could stop putting our youth up for sale we might be able to reach 4th or maybe even 5th from bottom.
  • So another minor blip in an otherwise relentless push for promotion. I really do think we will get in the play offs. We are a quality team. Has the op got to 100 lols yet?!

45 to go but don't worry he'll get there very soon.
  • If we get into the playoffs I will have "katrien meire" tattooed on my arse, and I actually will do it. My girlfriend won't be too happy, then again she hasn't seen me naked in 3 years.
  • Yesterday was a body blow for our promotion hopes, as was Bolton, Leeds, Brighton, Ipswich......... I feel for some of our fans who seem to have been driven over the edge by the terrible things they have witnessed, and this thread is another symptom. The good things witnessed in the Leeds game were like a leg spasm in a guy who just suffered a massive coronary. Ffs wake up.
  • We're leaving this push for the play offs awfully late, gonna be lucky to scrape in at this rate. Still in with a shout though.
