Is it a possibility?

As crazy as this may sound I saw enough quality in the Leeds match to see a few positives. Starting with Bolton tonight, 3 points on the board and a good holiday period run-maybe just maybe we might sneak in the back door to the play-offs. Stranger things have happened.

  • There's a much bigger chance of Chelsea winning the PL title than us getting into the Championship playoffs.

Let's not be to hasty Jessie (:
  • I must admit that I always wake up feeling brighter in the morning, refreshed and positive about the world but I am struggling just a little with this one, @curbs1965.
  • Stranger things have happened? What like @cafcdave123 getting a round in
  • I agree with this part...

  • Twilight zone.
  • If we could get everyone fit, if we strengthened the squad with experienced players, if the kids can maintain their form, if we have some luck then we could finish mid-table or even higher.

But a lot of "ifs" in there.

Just wait until the end of the season. Teams always have a run and can't see why its not us. Charlton for life!

We need that run to start really soon though... Its not just a case of making up 10-points (or whatever it is too), half the Division won't just stand still and wait for us to catch up, we'll need to at least make up a point per game on every team above us.

    Are you my wife ?
  • Staying up is the only target
  • Of course I would love an incredible run and play offs. It would be luck though and paper over the cracks.
The basic problems would still exist. A management hierarchy with no true affection for the club, apathy towards the supporters, unsuitable players and no manager with experience to succeed in the Championship.

From an averages point of view, we need to be on approx 24 points after Boxing Day to stand a chance of staying up. to get this, we need 2 wins from Bolton/Burnley/Bristol.

We score less than one goal per game and concede over 1.5, we rarely get any points if we go behind, struggle to hold on to any size of lead, and there looks to be 6 teams in the fight to beat the drop.

Our small squad is badly hit with injuries, and any loan players could take time to make an impact.

    Prepare for League One.

Six teams at the present but this is the Championship remember, as the weeks go by I reckon you'll see the whole bottom half of the table being sucked into the scrap, even Leeds and Fulham are only a handful of points ahead of us whilst Preston (were where we are now) have gone on a small run and are 16th... No where near all over yet.

Most teams that "Sneak" into the play offs are not 20th in the table and struggling both ends of the pitch in December.

10/10 for optimism and positivity and i mean that too... but come on, lets be realistic.

Trouble is Henry, there are only 3 injured players at present, yet we are struggling to put a competitive 11 out this evening and the bench will be as weak as Saturday's when the subs had to be left to the last 15 minutes in order not to weaken the 11 on the pitch. When the subs did come on the team nearly collapsed.

The likely back four tonight, Solly,Sarr,Lennon and THD have, with he exception of Solly, virtually no Championship experience. With Vaz Te probably out, whichever front 2 we use will have only a handful of Championship goals between them.

There are too many gaps I am afraid, the product of a poor recruitment policy over a long time.

Is RVT out? He was knackered Saturday, not injured surely?

Not easy for Athletes recovering from one event on a Saturday and then doing it again on a Tuesday.

I once did the Great South Run (a 10-mile race in Portsmouth), traveled back afterwards and played Football on the Wednesday yet could barely run, yes I didn't have helpers around me that these Footballers do but they can only help so much.
