I wish I knew what had happened between Tuesday and Saturday as I could not see where the next goal or point was coming from.
They were unable to string two passes together . I did not see yesterday's performance happening. Great credit to whoever instigated that..3 -

And yet we beat their team and scored 3 and it could have been 6.ElfsborgAddick said:

Sounds like sour grapes or a wind up.

Just putting it out there...
KF decided to play a narrow midfield, to put AD holding and JBG central.
Before frothing at the mouth, read Big Maks interview.2 -
An out of sorts Cousins being injured meant that our best player, Diarra, was played in centre-midfield. A position where we have been seriously lacking since Kashi got injured. Jackson can't dominate the centre of midfield but absolutely can play as a second foil in there and get forward a bit if he has two other midfielders in there as well. He keeps it nice and simple, so can link play and win his battles.
Fast forward to January; if we can sign a new centre-back then we would feel more comfortable playing Diarra centre-mid more often although he might not be able to do 180 mins Sat/Tue and generally we may have to pick our games so as we don't put too much on him. He's SO important to us and it will be interesting to see how he copes with the oppo putting a man on him (which they are bound to do after seeing him on Saturday).
If Kashi and Cousins are fit by then, suddenly we have a more than adequate midfield if we are going to play a narrow system.
Get Vetokele fit and we've got a decent set of four strikers.
THD can cover either of the full-back positions and it's time for him to get some games (and I mean hard away games as well because that's where he'll really find out what it's all about).
IF Ceballos comes back this season (although must be doubtful) then he and Moussa are the cover for Gudmonsson....who might need a rest for the odd away game.
KAG and maybe Lookman can be an options for the wide positions if we want to make a tactical switch.
Bottom line is getting the players fit and available. Do that and we've got a good chance of having a reasonable second half to the season.

Really? Jason just sat in the dug out with his hood up when it was chucking down, KF was on the touchline getting soaked, and clearly "managing" the team. The players were responding whether you like or not.Leuth said:That was 100% Jason Euell's win. Fraeye is an idiot, a Belgium clown. He just stood there while Euell managed. I bet the players don't even respond when he talks. JERA!

Think KF deserves some credit, even if it is for keeping things light and upbeat around the players.
However even though he picked a decent side (which was all he had to pick from), the players seem to have decided to get back to their earlier standards, desire and fight is important, a fact they had forgotten.1 -
In fairness, 99% of our fans thought exactly the same before Saturday. It took a bad run to get us so downhearted, so while Saturday was a much-needed boost, let's see if it was a one-off or the start of a recovery.soapboxsam said:

Know what knows for certain what goes on behind the scenes and who's putting the proper work in to sort this team out.
It could be curbs sending a secret enigma code letter to the players.
Could be a tea lady
It could be Richard Murray
But most likely if Jason euell wasn't promoted to assist with the 1st team... we would be extremely sh*t.
A rare "you got that one right Roland"

So far it's a one off. Does KF deserve some credit for it? Yes. Do I want a different manager in charge? Also yes. I don't know if it was Fraye or Euell, but there are good managers availible, and if KF gets the job on the back of one win and a CV that never mentions any sort of high level of football, it suggests a form of madness on the part of whoever gives him a contract.
When are we going to hear about the intervews for the vacant post of Charlton manager/coach?3 -
What game were you and your labrador at? Euell was on the touchline more than the puppet manager, and the players were constantly in communication with him not KF.HantsAddick said:

He wasn't. He did come out later in the match, I agree. Then there was communication between him and KF and the players. Unfair to say he was on touchline more, as KF was there the whole match. Also, I have 20/20 vision thanks. I may be getting old but can still see fine..2

Oh sweet god. KM's green light to appoint him permanently?7 -
I don't believe anything changes that much overnight, or in the course of a few days. The length of our run is a far better pointer of how poor we are than this result is of how good we are. We made some decisions and some changes and did some things we got right against a team at the other end of the spectrum who, for once of late, got them wrong. Sometimes football is that simple and typically this kind of situation denotes it.
The law of averages will also tell you we were going to stop the rut at some point.I could honestly just throw myself out of the window after reading that. How many times did I hear similar analogies re Luzon and Peeters?
Well the first part is accurate, and you can trace that back, apart from the 'window' bit. Don't worry, my legs are still intact...
Let's all throw a f***ing party and offer him a 10-year contract on the come-down...
As for the second part I was being sarcastic and taking thee p***, but whatever.0 -

Several things contributed to the excellent performance. They are, in no particular order:
New team formation. Nadir reached, team now on the up. The contribution of Jason Euell. Support of the team from the fans within the stadium. The contribution of Karel Fraeye. 'We want our Charlton back' from the fans outside the stadium. Opposition thinking that they could turn up and win. More, please.2 -
1) The players looked hungry (and not because there weren't enough chips or the hot dogs had run out)Anna_Kissed said:Several things contributed to the excellent performance. They are, in no particular order:

The transformation in their desire from Tuesday was amazing, you'd have thought we had appointed a new manager between the games0 -

I would like to give KF a chance - Tactically we were so much better than what Luzon dished up with his flat 442. You have my full support Mr Fraeye, as you remind me of Lennie Lawrence, he too looked like a school PE teacher.3
