If L'Equipe and Sky Sports are running with this then I'm very confident.0

Could he be loaned straight to Standard Liege ? I'll get me coat.4

And if we are really paying the same as we paid for Vetokele I would be extremely surprised. I'd go so far as to say the alleged fee is a load of bollocks.1

Prague - re your previous post about someone paying O'Grady 15k pw and you'd doubt we'd be paying that but we agreed terms with O'Grady didn't we so either someone is paying over the odd's or we were prepared to pay 15k pw.PragueAddick said:And if we are really paying the same as we paid for Vetokele I would be extremely surprised. Google translation of the story L'equipe ran on thier website this morning;
Pending departure, Andy Delort has not participated in the first day of Ligue 2 last weekend. Tours striker sent in several clubs in recent weeks, including Atletico Madrid, could soon say goodbye to his teammates because, according to our information, it is very close to signing for Charlton (English D2) a five-year contract . The 22 years has reached an agreement with the club and toured the facility last week. Monday evening, Tours and Charlton were close to an agreement around three million euros (+ bonus). Within Addicks'''' Delort regain another French in the person of the former Nantes Loïc Nego.0 -
When I first saw Moutaouakil play I thought he was brilliant. But to say he flattered to deceive is an understatement.MrLargo said:
Wow, we haven't acquired a player so sought after across Europe since we beat Barcelona, Everton, Villa, Lazio, Celtic and Rangers to the signing of Yassin Moutaouakil back in 2007. Lock up your mums!paulie8290 said:On sky sports transfer centre
Charlton Athletic are set to win the race to sign Tours striker Andy Delort, according to L'Equipe. Sky Sports revealed over the weekend that Charlton and Brentford were keen on Delort, who is tipped to finalise a move to The Valley on Wednesday. Delort, who has also been linked with Montpellier, Lens, Atletico Madrid, Schalke and Borussia Monchengladbach, could sign a five-year deal with Charlton to join for a fee of around €3million (£2.4m).

Sure Large but I don't think under this regime we are prepared to pay over the odds, and personally I'm happy with that if this regime believes it has a better way. They have already said that they consider British players too expensive and I make them right.LargeAddick said:

Maybe we are in for this guy, and maybe he will be good. But the whole thing has a funny smell to it compared with the way we swooped for Vetokele, and the fact that the network knew a lot about Vetokele even if the British market did not.
I don't think the words Interest, Atletico Madrid, Schalke, and Brentford belong in the same sentence and when someone tries to fit them in, my bullshit detectors are switched to 11.

We've got him0

Agreed. Did an incredible reverse flick thing to set up a goal in his first game, against Scunthorpe I think. Suspect Pardew and Parky can shoulder some of the blame for his fall from grace, but I think he had attitude problems as well - the way his career's gone since he left us I'd say the latter is more significant than the former.dickplumb said:

He's linked with Charlton either because there's a leak on a pending deal or because the agent (& Tours) is copying the storyline behind the Vetokele move to generate some interest. Either way looks good for CAFC and shows how much our stock has risen in just six months.0

Hmm tough choice, Champions League runners up Athletico Madrid or Billy Smart's Charlton?

Just my opinion but I don't think we are even close to being a circus. That was this time last year.falconwood_1 said:Hmm tough choice, Champions League runners up Athletico Madrid or Billy Smart's Charlton?

If we do end up signing Delort and spending the same amount of money we have spent on Vetokele, are we keeping within FFP?
I'm guessing we got a bit of money for Poyet, but apart from that, surely our deficit has grown with these signings? I see the long term value, as both are young tied to long term deals with potential sell on value. Yet in the short term will we not struggle to meet the criteria0 -
The transfer fees are spread over the life of the contract so €3m is about £500k pa over five years.
Remember we have let a lot of players go over the summer so the playing wage bill won't be a lot different to last season - much less players at a higher quality level.
With the cup run and player sales in January our losses were way under the limits last season...
As well as running a tighter squad and getting in good loans, the way to stay ahead of reducing FFP limits is growing crowds, increasing commercial revenue and selling players. At some point we may have to sell a top player to balance the books...Nothing new there! I would prefer if we can hold out, keep building and have a crack at the top six...breaking FFP limits the year you go up is not a problem as the club just pays a fine!2 -
Surely we'll be due a fee for Reza?0
-
Of course the cup run. Completely forgotten about that. I didn't know the rule was to spread the fee over the life of the contract, no wonder teams like Chelsea, Man City etc continue to spend big each season. I didn't know how much of a difference it made offloading the likes of Kermorgant, Dervite, Stephens etc on the wages. I was looking at it from a purely simplistic view of transfer outlays (albeit we haven't signed Delort yet).seriously_red said:The transfer fees are spread over the life of the contract so €3m is about £500k pa over five years.

here is a list of all the clubs allegedly interested in Delort this window:
Atletico Madrid, Schalke, Standard (!), Anderlecht, according to this site focused on French footie. In an earlier report the same website also mentioned Moenchengladbach, as well as French L1 sides Rennes and Lens, the latter currently barred from signing new players. He is reported to have written tweets to Lens fans claiming that he wanted to join them but Lens could not offer the money. He appears to suggest that he will play for them one day.
Leicester, Leeds and Southampton, according to the Daily Getsworse
and Brentford...
Interesting that Standard are mentioned though. That might be the key to understanding the fee. I couldn't see RD sanctioning another £2.4m for Charlton alone without being seriously assured that this player will be a big asset. Somebody posted that he was massively unimpressed by the Polish Pete episode and French Ligue 2 is hardly any stronger than Dutch L2.

This would make sense now if SL are involved, because then the start of us being a feeder club comes to fruition - we buy 2/3 million continental starlets, give them a few games, either they do well or they fail - the ones that star are shipped on to SL, and we are left with the dross.PragueAddick said:here is a list of all the clubs allegedly interested in Delort this window:

Mr President, I hope you're joking, because all this talk of moving our good players to Liege is just stupid.2 -
I understand where you are coming form, but i honestly believe we are number 1 in the network not SL.The_President said:

We keep the good players, with the look to push onto the prem, and as so many have said before, Charlton has so much more to offer RD money wise than SL.
Sorry Standard but you are playing second fiddle to the mighty CAFC now.1
