Blackpool looking at Riga according to SSN0
-
The thing about Duchatelet is he is purely objective and unemotional and in a bizarre way I like that. Fans and team are emotional and that is why one rubs up the other though I dare say that Duchatelet could not give a monkey's what anyone else thinks of him. He is a businessman and as such probably good at judging character; Peeters looks and sounds far more determined and will probably be more bastard than friend and maybe that is exactly what we need to win this league.0

Joke, Joke, Joke
Never in my life being a Charlton fan would ever imagine a joke decision to get of Riga!0 -
The Belgians must be doing something right. Produced some great players recently from such a small country. I liked Riga but will reserve judgement on Peeters and get behind him although not happy he was a spanner.0

I dunno what the fuck RD is playing at, I really don't....4

What concerns me is, if Riga stays in England he might take some of our players with him as they all liked him and thought a lot of him.0
-
You could say the same about Powell - who will get the new job first ?0

I would say Riga, he is a better championship manager4

I'm a DIRTY RAT I'm not the one ripping this club to bits if you think this man's running the club right then your a bigger clown than he is3

Pretty much bang on. However, I hope we can keep our good players long enough to win something!bromleyjohn said:The thing about Duchatelet is he is purely objective and unemotional and in a bizarre way I like that. Move on.
Jose wh... ahhh forget it2 -
What did Riga expect, it aint the first time this has happened to him.
Of coarse he wanted to stay, dream job for any man.1 -
Anyone got a link?0

Riga arrived with a sharp and narrow brief and thoroughly succeeded.
That success is only one part of the equation, and to me it does not indicate that he is a nailed on success to be the manager/coach for a proper campaign. He may well be capable of being successful, but I reckon Roland had taken into consideration more of Riga's CV than the spell he had with us. Roland may also be continuing to come to terms with finding the kind of person he wants to work in association with.
Actions are going to have to speak louder than words in the next year or so.0 - Sponsored links:

Be sad to see him go too, which it think that this decision makes more likely.Richard J said:Diego Poyet just tweeted

Thanks to Jose Riga for everything he did for the club and helped us massively to stay in the league. Sad to see him go

Riga had pedigree having been at Liege and Inter Milan. What a pedigree does Peeters have ? This is a massive gamble from Roland. If it goes all pair shaped will Roland ever admit that he got it wrong ?2

I am what has recently been described as a Ducharelistas but I don't see this as being an objective decision. It may be without emotion but it is also without logic.bromleyjohn said:The thing about Duchatelet is he is purely objective and unemotional and in a bizarre way I like that. Roland obviously wants to have a high influence on everything - which is going to end up being counter-active.
This decision is just really stupid and irritating. He is stubbornly over looking the possibility that Riga might just be the best man for the job - by sticking to his obvious original plan of bringing in someone else, regardless of how well Riga did.
Riga 100% deserved the chance to stay as manager and it saddens me that he has not been given it.
If only "Roland out" was applicable.
It's his way or the highway unfortunately.
Better get used to "the vision".2 -

I've written a poem entitled 'La gare du Châtelet'
A curious analogy of Mr Duchatelet can be made
Five clubs with dozens of players coming and going
The man is the central station of a European metro system
Oui, mais voilà, everything is underground, and therefore invisible
The man is gigantic but totally hidden.
Without connecting trains of communication between clubs' fans
The underground system cannot be explored and understood
We're on a forum like a lost tourist, looking for access onto his iron network
But with Mr Duchatelet we are left only to instinctively try to find our way.
