Sad listening to that, comes across as a really nice guy. And reiterated he wanted to stay with us. Would like a club in the championship if he has the chance
Comes over as a nice guy. He makes it quite clear that he would have liked to stay at Charlton and it was not his choice! Let's hope Roland's next choice is as good!
Said he didn't expect the Championship standard to be as high as it was in terms of players, managers, stadiums and media attention but everyone at the club and outside of it made him feel very welcome and that he fell in love with English football.
Disappointing. Jose at least deserved to have been told why he wasn't being kept on. Don't like the way RD appears to be going about things.
Exactly. And sorry, it does not matter how much money you have made, such behaviour is bad practice. I cannot think of an excuse for treating an employee this way who has delivered everything that was asked.
I think it's a big shame. He came under a bit of pressure, replacing CP, emotions running high among us supporters and yet he quietly turned our season (just in time) and the end goal.....we stayed up! I find it really strange, the players seemed to like him, the fans certainly took to him and it seemed he 'suited' our club?? And just then on ssn a real breath of fresh air, honestly answering all the questions put to him (unlike many!) a quality interview. #confused Good luck and thank you Jose wherever you end up you will always be fondly remembered down at the valley!

And this is probably where Duchatelet doesn't have a clue. He still seems to think the championship is just a crappy pro league that's the same standard as every second tier league across Europe. Riga has probably said "let's get proven quality, get to the prem and the money and academy will take care of itself". Roland probably thinks "let's get a load of other proven second tier players from Luxembourg. Lol bye Riga lolz #sorrynotsorry".
I'm gutted too but RD plucked Riga from nowhere so who is to say that the new man, whoever it is, can't come in and do just as good a job. Riga will be missed but never forgotten.
If he was going to stay I reckon we would have known, when the season ended.
Riga never gave the slighest inkling that he was staying.
The only logical conclusion is that RD believes Peeters is better.
Yes, it seems weird, but Riga didn't have a contract beyond the end of the season.
If a better manager than Powell was available/able to be obtained, on a reasonable wage, would we be wrong to not get him, if we wish to "move forward" ?

Not even being told why he's not being offered a new deal is disappointing.
You have the cards now RD.
Can I panic yet?
I was gutted when Powell left and I'm gutted that Riga has left. Two decent blokes who seem very 'Charlton' and we've lost them both.

Thanks to Jose Riga for everything he did for the club and helped us massively to stay in the league. Sad to see him go
Duchatelet is a douche.
Cook me my humble pie Roland, I'm hungry.

It's all very confusing.
I can't judge his decision yet as after his last unpopular one he proved himself right, so I will sit here patiently until I pass any real judgement.
